her saliva smells like Vinegar

I just got my LO up from a nap and her spit smells like vinegar.....WTH? She plays a new game where she tries to give me her pacifier and I inhaled while she had it close to my face. I brush her whoppin' two teeth every night. Should i do it in the morning as well?

Are you possibly smelling the pacifier?

If you don't wash them regularly, they start to smell really bad.

I don't think it's just the pacifier. I have several that I swap out and wash. I just smelled the pacifier and now that the spittle dried, it doesn't smell like vinegar anymore.

The bacteria hide in the spaces where the plastic part connects to the nipple if you're using that kind.

Does she have reflux? Stomach acid smells kind of like vinegar. Or she may have had an acid burp prior to you picking her up.

I've smelled that before...and it usually is yeast (thrush.) Does she have any tiny white spots on her tongue?

Does it smell like vinegar or like a urine smell? I only ask because people with problems with their liver will have a urine smell to their breath.

She DID burp just before picking her up! She had reflux, but seemed to have grown out of it around 5 months.

No thrush. That was my first thought as well. No white spots, no coating on her tongue.

It might be a virus. She may never get sick, but only process the virus...but my kids get that smell when they have a stomach bug too.

I think it has to do with an imbalance of acid vs. alkaline in the body.
