What made you decide to leave?

For those who left their husband/SO, what was the last straw for you? Was it something specific, or was it a series of events that led to the demise of the relationship?

Did you try counseling? If so, did it do anything?

Just asking out of curiosity.  

A series of events leading up to one big one. Just this past weekend, actually.

For me, it was a series of events that led to the demise of the relationship. It came to a point where we just couldn't fix it anymore...We were havign the same exact arguments every other day. Finally, we both just ogt tired of it, and decided it was best if we just moved on.

My ex fiance is my son's father. I tried everything I could to make our relationship work. He called off the wedding, I agreed to stay engaged and try things longer. He started messing around with other girls, I convinced myself it was because I was pregnant/on bedrest/not allowed to have sex. He never came to appointments, visited or contributed financially to the pregnancy, I convinced myself he was saving for K's big arrival.

I. WAS. STUPID.

All of those things and many more that I won't go into are what ended it. He snapped, broke up with me and then came running back. I finally had the strength to say, 'hell no!' I'm so happy that we didn't get married. Haha! Oh, being young and stupid.

He was...not so nice after i got pregnant

He was stupid. I don't like stupid people.

my husband has a terrible drinking problem. he admits he's an alcoholic, but will not get help. he neglects me and my kids to drink 10 beers a night and lately has become more and more mean and hurtful. he justifies it by saying it's not a problem if he can get up and go to work every day.

told me i was weak because i'm on anti-depressants and in counseling. and told me to "get over my shit" when i was upset about my daughter breaking her leg.

it's building up to where i'm thinking of taking a break to re-evaluate this situation.

If he's drinking 10 beers a night...he definitely has a problem. My ex had a horrible alcohol/drug problem that we battled for years. He was the same way...in complete denial. If you ever need to talk about it, let me know--I've been there done that!
