I think it just boils down to how the girls feel. If they are embarassed than she over stepped. If not, no big deal.

If they ARE embarassed then hopefully she'll realize "Oops, I over shared" and if they aren't then they are probably proud that maybe they will help some other families by example.

And I think what she said is true, we don't tend to see our kids for what they are. We either have weight/body imageissues our selves and worry that they are too fat, or we are in denial and think they are perfect even though they are overweight.

I wouldn't want to talk openly about my children's problems when they are so young. Even something like this. Its putting them in the spotlight and kids can be very cruel. I wouldn't want anyone to start harassing them over the issue. Its not a big deal and I don't think she said anything wrong but i can see it getting blown out of proportion.

I honestly think this could make them more relatable to their peers. They're the President's Girls, that sets them enough apart as it is... something that makes them "less perfect" might end up working in their favor.

I think that it's something she said to be relatable. Because people in spotlight (as the first family is) tend to not be relatable to other people.

I would have been horrified if my mom said something like that to her friends (she did all the time, she made 10 phone calls to tell everyone I started my period) let alone to the entire United States. However, I think that a child would have to suffer extremely low self esteem to develop an eating disorder over it. Not that it couldn't happen.

I'm not sure how I feel about it really, I see why she mentioned it, but can see how it may really embarrass a child.
