Is this "man's" sentence too light?

Agree with him, it's too long
16 years is about right for this crime
16 years is an outrage, should be even longer

Is this "man's" sentence too light?

Found this story on pbb.com

Thought, just for kicks, I'd do a poll to ask everyone's opinions.

ROCKLAND, Maine — A Rockland man says the 16-year prison sentence he received for killing his 2-month-old daughter is too long and he wants it shortened.

The attorney for Robert Harford Jr. says the average sentence for similar crimes is five to eight years.

Defense Attorney Steven Peterson says the sentence defies the concept of equality in sentencing.

The Bangor Daily News says Peterson filed the appeal of the sentence last week in Knox County Superior Court.

Harford was sentenced last month after being convicted of domestic violence manslaughter in the death of his 9-week-old daughter Ava in August 2008.
Harford initially told police he dropped the child, but later said he threw her to the ground in a fit of frustration.

So, what do you think. Despite the "inequality in sentencing" is this sentence just right, too long or too short?

I think it should be longer. I don't think people should be given a second chance when they intentionally hurt someone and it leads to death.

This is a parenting site, so I'm pretty sure we're all going to be angry and saddened by this   I think he should get thrown off an overpass, personally.

It should be longer. Say, as long as her life would have been if he hadn't taken it out of anger.

I voted that I agree with him, but ONLY because the average sentencing time was shorter. I could see if he sexually abused her before or tortured her, but unfortunately he does have rights.

I think the circumstances around his crime would deserve a more harsh punishment.

I hate it when things like that happen so close to me.

It's manslaughter, and I find it disgusting that just because someone is 9 weeks old instead of 20 years, the perpetrator gets less time, on a normal basis.

I'm going to agree with him getting thrown from an overpass. Then he'd know how it feels.

I think his wanting a shortened sentence shows a lack of remorse. With that in mind, I think it should be longer. Give him a little more time to think about what he's done.

the way i see it is, would this 4 month old live to only see 16? if so, fine.
since she would most likely live to be 74, i say 74 year sentence should suffice.
