Did any of you mammas with preemies have iugr
posted 14th Jan
and if had iugr, did they bring the babies out b/c of it>? My baby is measuring in the less than 10 perecentile and my fundal height has been measruing smal for the last few weeks... Apparenly if on the next ultra he is still lacking in growth, they would talk about bringing him out........ Im confused as to how it works, if my baby is 33 weeks and is measuring like a 29-30 weeker, would he be the same health wise as a 33 weeker or a 29-30 weeker.. he would be very small, any help from you strong mammas with premies would be great ladies

I didn't go through that but as for the health thing the problem is it could be anywhere. His lungs could still be great for his gestation while he's just a tiny boy or because he's not developing right he could be worse than what you're measuring. The best thing to do is keep up hope and try to relax as much as possible.
I will keep your little one in my thoughts and prayers though. I know it's not much but preemies could always use a some good wishes sent their way.

My baby has iugr. They took her out at 34 weeks because she stopped growing at 32 weeks. She also had no fluid around her. It is your best option to take him out because it can cause more problems if he stays in. They said if I went to full term with her, she would have had more problems then she does now.

thats what i have been thinking and im so worried, if he already is measuring at 30 weeks and my uterus hasnt grown since around then, would not it be too long to wait til my next ultra in 10 days at (35 weeks exactly) to know to take him out!??!!? i feel like theyre not being promt enough on this !? do u think so?

I was induced the night they found out. So yeah they need to do something. But dont be scared. As long as the hospital you are at has a good nicu you will do great. How many weeks are you?

We still dont know. I am still going in for tests in stuff. I was also in a horrible car accident a little over a year ago and it could have messed something up and we didnt know. If he doesnt move as much you NEED to call your doctor. 33 weeks is when she stopped moving as much. 34 weeks and 4 days is when the induced me. It is really scary though but you can let it stress you out. Your baby will react to it.

I've told you this before but I will tell you again.
I had an ultrasound at 38 weeks exactly because my doctor didn't think my baby was head down. Sure enough she was in the breech position. When they measured her she was in the 5th percentile they said she weighed 5lbs5oz. I strongly believed she measured that way because she was in the breech position. she came out 6lbs 4oz the very NEXT day!!!
Because your LO is breech I imagine he is measuring small for the same reason. I would not let your doctor go by those measurements and I'm kind of wishing I was more informed and didnt let her do the c section right away.
Please stay positive everything will be alright!!!

I just had my baby on the 6th and she was 35 weeks and had IUGR.. She came out weighing 3lbs 13 ozs, I had only measured small at my last appt and so I went to the ER a few days later with a severe migraine only to find out I would be delivering by emergency c-section that night... She came home after 6 days and was still under 4 lbs (not anymore!!) I had toxemia which eventually lead all the way to hellp syndrome and had to be in the ICU. Everything was developed well except her size, no resp. problems whatsoever and she's a great eater! We say she's a big girl in a little body... We had a great experience at the NICU, it just depends on how the hospital is. She's home with us now and so far everything has been great, she's just teeny tiny

thats wonderful ! Im glad everthing turned out for the better, i cant imagine having a 4lb baby taken home with me, thats so teeeny tiny! I would be worried because theyre so fragile :O Awww Good thing they caught it, ie calmed down now and am going to lett things take theire course and talk to the OB about everything ive read and people ive talked to, the posssibilty of measurments being wrong b/c he is breech or what not.. ! thanks everyone for helping me in this stressful time

Hey, I noticed your post on IUGR and wanted to respond. I had IUGR with my daughter and it definitely was a little scarey, but don't worry too much. From 30 weeks on they were monitoring her growth weekly (sometimes twice a week) and she was born at 39 weeks weighing 5 lbs. 2 oz. I took her home weighing 4 lbs. 6 oz. I didn't show until 32 weeks with her, so if you belly isn't looking big, don't worry too much. Just make sure your baby is moving every day and if it slows down quit a bit, call your dr. I think your baby should be fine. They put me on bedrest the last few weeks and it helped her growth some. Try to relax, eat, and stay off your feet as much as possible! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

one scan just a couple of weeks off isn't a big deal as scans aren't accurate at a late gestation. Your fundal height doesn't mean too much either as it relates to baby's position alot, although also to fluid levels which is important. My son had IUGR and was born 3 months early at 1 lb 14 oz. He was very sick, but hadn't grown at all for 3 weeks.
A one off scan doesn't tell you much at all, but if you've been having regular scans and they suddenly notice no growth then it is of concern for sure. Normally if growth is just slow they'll give you regular non stress tests and ultrasounds and ask you to be vigilent with movement. At 35 weeks there are few complications and most babies go home within a few days. With IUGR they'd be looking at things like ability to maintain temp and blood sugar levels.
A much lesser situation, but another of my sons stopped growing properly at 35 weeks, he was born naturally at 38 weeks and was totally healthy. TBH, at 35+ weeks, an induction will be more stressful and harmful to your baby than a natural delivery - although of course baby would have to be monitored regularly to assure everything is still good.
