I have a very common name - Ashley. When I was younger I always wished it was at least spelled different since there wereseven other Ashley's in my class. Now I could care less.My daughter's name is Khayla (like Kayla). It's a normal name with a different spelling and obviously I didn't come up with that. I found it on a baby name website and thought it looked prettier that way. As long as parents don't go overboard with the spellings, I don't have a problem with it. What bugs me is when people takea bunch ofdifferent names and combine them into one or take a word, not a name and add anna, ette, ella, ley, etc to it and think it's a name. I knew a girl in highschool named Fashionette. Huh? What the hell kind of name is that?

So funny you mention Paizlei. Hubby is one for really borning names but, was kinda hooked on Paisley for a while.

We went with unique but, not weird. A tride and true real name you just don't hear a whole lot any more...

Piper Sage
Sage was because I like eathy and "weird" names so, hubby let me have the middle.

I actually kind of like Paisley, as long as it's spelled correctly.

Yea I don't mind that so much. But after this morning I am kicking myself in the ASS. I named my second daughter a name that I pretty much made up. No one can say it right and it bugs me   It's said just like it's spelled. So be careful ladies!

Aww, don't be so hard on yourself! You liked the name when you chose it, and I'm sure it has special meaning to you.

What does your daughter think of her name?

I used the most common spellings for my kids names. One of my reasons for that was so the personalized pens and such would have their spelling. I know it sounds stupid, but it works, right?

Her name is Kamarah but we call her Kami. I never asked her if she liked it or not but I do. I just wish people would say it right lol. No sorry it doesn't sound like a camero or a camera.   I guess my first daughter got lucky because her name is Cecilia and I hope no one can screw that one up.

Oh, I think Kamarah is lovely!!

It's not weird or 'out there' at all if you ask me. The people who can't pronounce it must not be very smart.

Kami is really cute for a nickname.

I think so   I like strong but feminine sounding names and when I thought it up it just seemed right to me. It should mean "little diva" by the way Kami behaves

I know what you mean, Deanna-- my mother's name is Joan and you wouldn't believe how many people call her "Joanne".

Your name is very pretty, by the way!

My husband is Bryan w/ a Y and it's the bane of his existence. He's constantly getting legal documents spelled "Brian" and that 1 stupid letter makes them invalid. My middle name is spelled Lynne, same thing. Our daughter is Alina Kathryn. Kathryn is spelled like that because it's my MIL and my husband's gramother's name, so we kept the same spelling. Alina is Polish, after my grandmother, but that's the Polish spelling of her name.

I have a serious issue when people add 6 extra letters to a completely normal name like "Jewelleigh" for "Julie' and "Khaydehn" for "Caden". My cousin named his son Michael, but spells it "Mikael", and he's constantly getting called Ma-KY-el.

UGH!!!
