re: How to tell the parents your preggo...

posted 9th May
I was acutally with my mom when I went to the doctors and it wasnt for a pregnancy test, they asked me if I could possibly be pregnant and I said maybe so they ran a test without us knowing and the doctor came in and told us I was pregnant. So I didnt have to tell herI was pregnant the doctor did lol. And my fiance was so excited when I called him from the doctors office so I was pretty happy and confident that I called my dad up and told him a couple hours after I found out, My parents live 4 hours away so luckely my mom was in town cuz that was an easy way of telling her without actually doing it myself lol. Of course my parents werent happy when I told them about the news but they are taking it so well and im really happy about my pregnancy!

I found out I was pregnant long before I told anybody. I was seventeen at the time, and after three months of being secretive, when I finally plucked up the courage to tell my boyfriend, he took over deciding which parents to tell when and where (which I was very glad for). We told his mom and step-dad first. My boyfriend is a very straight forward and upfront guy, so we just sat them down and after a deep breath, out it came. They were understandably disappointed, but very supportive.
We told my parents a few days later in much the same way. Maybe it was because Kevin's parents took the news so well, but I figured my mom and dad would be understanding. I didn't hesitate and just came out with it. Instantly my mother started crying, and my dad's face went beat red. He was angry, to say the least. My parents never approved of my boyfriend, and the fact that he 'knocked me up' didn't make them love him any more. They told Kevin that they never wanted him to see me again, and threw him out of the house. The next few nights didn't get any better as I kept getting lecture after lecture about how I let them down. They didn't seem to want anything to do with either me or my baby (which I was intent on keeping), so I left home. Kevin's parents welcomed me into their home with open arms, and we lived there for the next few months before getting a little shoebox of an apartment, where we started our family.

Even though my parents weren't supportive in the slightest, I don't reccomend keeping that kind of a secret to yourself. Get it out in the open as soon as possible and just come out with it. Whatever happens, happens, and it's better to get on with it. When I found out that I was pregnant with baby #2, I told my boyfriend right away. Once again his parents were especially supportive, and even excited this time around. As for my parents, they're starting to come around. Our relationships are stronger than ever; even if my father still can't stand the sight of Kevin.

I'll be 22 at the end of this month and I'm still soooo nervous to tell my parents. I just got engaged three weeks ago. We've been dating for 8 months. And I just found out I'm pregnant yesterday! I'm afraid they'll think we're only getting married because I'm expecting. I also just started an amazing career as a flight attendant so that will have to be on hold. And to top it all off, I live with my fiance's mother (she is a flight attendant too...) Her and I lived together first then she introduced her son to me... And last week she had a HUGE talk with me about doing all I can to keep from getting pregnant.. (at that time I didn't know I already was!) ... They will all be a bit dissapointed since we are unprepared for this... but I know they will be a bit more accepting since I'm a bit older. This came as such a shock to me. I'm living proof protection isn't always 100%!! Good luck to all who have to tell their parents no matter how old you are!

Well, i was having bad tummy pains for over a week, and i thought i just had the flu or something and my boobs were hurting really bad. I just thought maybe my peroid is going to start soon. So a few days later i go to my moms house and i told my bestfriend about what was going on, and talked me into buy a pregnancy test. I wasn't convinced i was pregant. So i got one anyways and took it at her house. Low and behold i was pregant. So i called my boyfriend and told him. A week later me and him go to clinic to get one of those free ones and of corse i was, so that day i called my mom and i just flat out told her. Im pregant. She was happy but a little worried about my future. since i am only 19. She said she wished i would have waited but she is totally exicted now and can't wait. My boyfriend just called his parents and told them and we waited to tell my dad. We both told him in person. I just walked up to my dad and was like we need to talk. I need to tell you something important. And i blurted out im pregant. He kinda stood there for a second and was like okay. And me and him and my boyfriend all talked about it. My dad is totally supportive and so is all my family and friends. I didn't tell my step dad right away because i was scared he would judge me. My mom had to tell him for me, and he said he already knew. But he has been a really big help and more supportive then i thought.

I just came out and told my mom. I really couldn't hold it in. I had to tell her. I was in Missouri when I found out and I live in Ohio. So, my boyfriend (now fiancee) and I were on our way home from his Mom's. (We hadn't even told his mother.) So, we were feeling really nervous and guiltyand HAD to tell our parents. We were on the road to his dad's and he had called his mom and then, I had called my mom. I explained to her that I wanted to tell her in person, but my advice... Tell them in person. We waited to tell his mother after we had already left and it tore her apart. She said she wished we would have told her before we left. So, that she wouldn't have to deal with it by herself considering she won't really be there for the baby as much as she'd like because we live three states away. My mom said the same thing, she'd rather hear it from us in person than over the phone or anything else. It shows that you really do respect what they have to say and how they'll feel and it's easier to comfort eachother that way. Just start off by telling them how you found out... So, they may get mad and upset but they will soon get excited.

I know it is hard to tell your mom and dad, but the best thing you can do for your health and the babies is just tell them and be honest. ABOUT EVERYTHING!!! Let them know you know they might not be happy but there support is something you need more than anything, or any other time in your life.

i told my mom like 5 minutes after i found out. n i was going to get my depo shot and my dr ran my fiancee out of the room to tell me i was pregnant. i told him and immediately called my mom. she cried for like two days and then she was fine. my dad on the other hand really freaked out. i told him first over the phone and he hung up on me. his wife called me back like 5 minutes later and i told her. she said my dad wasn't freaking out because i was pregnant he was freaking out because i wanted to move in with my fiancee before we got married! it was a big relief to tell my parents because now i'm getting the best prenatal care possible through my dad's insurance company and my fiancee has time to save money before the baby gets here.

I got pregnant (age 16) in September 07 and told who I believed was the baby's daddy, and his mother read an email he sent to me where we were talking about it, and she called my dad, and my father was soooooo angry, he kept pressuring me for adoption, and i REFUSED. i wanted to keep my baby.... but... he was going to kick me out and cut me off monetarily, and i had nowhere else to go, and the baby's daddy left me..... so i couldn't do it, trust me i tried everything... but i couldn't stand the thought of having a baby out there somewhere... so i had an abortion reluctantly, and i still have nightmares about it and feel bad all the time... now, it's a week away from when i would have been due, and I believe I'm pregnant again, with my fiance's baby... he's extremely excited and swears he'll never leave me, but i'm so scared to tell my dad or his parents, even though his parents were teen parents too... my dad was mad the last time, think what he'll think now! but i think i'll have my fiance tell him on a coffee date or something.

I got pregnant literally on my 18th birthday. I was scared to death about telling my mom, and not so nervous about telling my dad, but it turned out it should have been the other way around! My mom told me she was excited and that she had kind of had a feeling when I went to visit her the month before ( I found out a month or so onto the pregnancy) When I told my dad he was so mad atme that I almost threw up I was crying so bad. It didn't take him long to get over it and apologize though. I'm daddy's little girl so he was just really freaked. I think bottom line, JUST TELL THEM. There is nothing worse than dragging it out. The longer you wait the longer it takes for them to adjust to the idea. I also suggest having your plan for your life with the baby before telling them as well, along with having all the answers to the million questions they'll end up asking!
