infant cpr its check the pulse inside the upper arm while putting your ear to the mouth and looking at the chest if you don't feel breath do two slow breaths over nose and mouth and put two fingers a fingerprint below the nipple line do 15 press downss in the rythm a 100 per minute do this seguence over 4 times and check again the vitals keep on doing it until they breath on their own once they do put them on their left side. Also ofcourse check for anything obstructing their breathing and use your finger to chuck it out. And do cpr. if they are choking crab them by there head and body place head below your knee and put their stomach on your thigh when sitting down and do a couple thumps with your palm below their soldiers

I am a Certified Nursing Assistant and in my training I had to get certified in CPR for infant, child and adult. Also I had to learn the Heimlich Maneuver for infant, and adult. They are both very easy to learn, and I would say that it would be a good idea for new parents to learn the Heimlich especially because it is so easy for infants and toddlers to choke on something.

I am not certified or anything but I actually got my knowledge from reading a book with pictures. Which actually came in handy. 3 times that I can remember so far. One incident I did cpr, 2 others theheimlich. Im glad I know what to do though. And im glad I got hands on experience... One incident is when my daughter was in the room and her grandparents gave her a lollipop (they do this everyday which is annoying). She took the lollipop off the stick and seconds later began to choke. They started panicing and patting her back which i see alot of people do. Luckily I was in the other room and even though I cant see what my child is doing i try to listen at whats going on so I ran in the room and did the heimlich. I was suprised I didnt panic because the very first time i screamed befor my body could move.

The hospital I plan to give birth at offers a free CPR course but they don't advertise it its something you have to inquire about.

The hospital I'm delivering at offers classes too.. it's not free here though, but it only costs $8 a person. My doctor's office told us about it and gave us the number to call to register for the class. My husband and I thought that $16 for the both of us to take the class was MORE than worth it to know what to do just in case. We got signed up last month and our class is in a couple months.

It's great to know all the CPR, rescue breathing, chocking victims and first aid. I'm a lifeguard and the best thing to do is get certified. It is so much different to see it be done and it actually do it and even to actually have to use it on a real person. It's usually only around $30 to be certified.

Being a paramedic, I know that a lot of people *think* they know CPR, but they don't. Also, having once had to perform CPR on my own child, I was made aware of how hard it is to do on someone you know (even though I had done CPR on many babies prior to my own child's death). It is something that should not only be taken seriously, but taught by a professional and practiced. Good thread idea.

It really is such an important thing to have as a parent. We unfortunately always thought we had time to learn it until my 2 day old daughter stopped breathing. I would way rather have been prepared than have to take a crash course over the phone with the 911 dispatcher

I'm certified in CPR I know how to do it.
And its a good thing to, because as previous posters have said, you never know when you may need it.

American Red Cross has infant CPR classes as well.

I have actually been Infant CPR, CPR, and First Aid Certified since I was 16. I believe that EVERYONE should take the time to do this. I wish that ALL high schools taught ALL three of these classes in health or something. The fire department comes right to the school to teach the students. I think that more people should realize the importance of knowing these procedures before they need to. Hopefully a person never needs to use the knowledge gained by getting certified but I rather never use the knowledge than need it and not know what to do. It's not like we're talking about baking a cake... we're talking about potentially saving a life! I'm glad that you shared the links so that others could learn these procedures. Hopefully everyone who saw them followed through with them and passed them onto people that they know.
