I am a stay at home dad (my boy is 7 months old) I am also an American Heart Association certified trainer. I am planning on providing a short online course that would teach the basics of infant and child CPR and first aid for a choking infant or child.

Please take this CPR for Parents survey http://s-zw1uz-38239.sgizmo.com
And pass this link onto other parents.

I am required to take CPR for nursing school. I'm certified for it, but have to take a refresher course before the fall semester starts. It's a good thing to know how to do and I keep trying to pressure my boyfriend into taking the course with me.
My mom performed CPR on me when I was around 10 months old. You never know when something like this could come in handy and save a life.

Thanks for this post! I've been meaning to take infant CPR classes but just havent had the time and it's been slipping my mind. Hubby knows CPR but it'll do me no good if he's not home and God forbid something was to happen.

thanks again!

AWESOME topic! My son choked on spit up when he was a week old and we didn't know what to do...we called 911 and they told us how to do a chest compress on him and immediatly the spit up came out and he could breathe....we went at the hospital for precaution and got a cpr class and I feel a lot better knowing if something happens I am able to do something.

Im an EMT and let me say Infant CPR is the best thing in the world. It is so wonderful. I think everyone should know how to perform it and its not hard. Although I will say I have never had to do Infant CPR I have had a lot of calls dealing with Infants(sadly) and you never know when your going to need it. Specially becoming a new mommie and being unfamiliar with your baby. CPR does save lives. I can vouch for that.

I'm a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant and we had to take CPR, I thought it was for only adults but we did the infant one also. I told my husband that when I have to renew in December he should come along to learn the infant CPR. It it really good to know. There was a family here in Milwaukee who lost their infant child a week ago and the mother & father both said "we didnt know infant CPR". With the possibility of educating new parents or even parents in general on how to do it I think it would save allot of infants in that time of need. I think it should be a requirement to go through those classes when you have a child.

A lot of fire depts. offer CPR for adults and infant/child- call your local one and check- if they are all volunteer sometimes they don't offer them but the bigger ones that get paid for their skills as a job usually do offer them!
