re: Recalls

My hubby told me today that bottles with a rating of 7 in the arrow triangle thing are supposed to have been recalled because of bisphenol A. Has anyone else heard about this and does anyone know where we might find a list of the banned products?

Yes, your right. Here is a link to what bottles are safe and what are not. Also if you have any unsafe bottles around you can bring them to toysrus or walmart for a full return. I brought back all my avent, playtex and dr.browns bottles and got back $247.00 so it's worth it.

those of you that are thinking about using glass bottles.. DONT! They are such a pain in the ass. I used to have 9. I am down to 5. Between temp. cracking and droping them, they are heavey, bulky and a pain in general. Gerber and Evenflo have BPA free ones now at Walmart. I just bought some. They say right on the package, BPA FREE.

On the subject of BPA free bottles...
Playtex drop-ins are BPA free. I know how popular they are, so mommies with drop-ins...quit freaking out about something that doesnt apply to your bottles!

I hope at least one drop-in mama breathes a bit easier now.

This scared me. I just got my Chicco Cortina travel system yesterday and put it together about an hour ago. Luckily mine was manufactured in January and not Feb or Mar. Thanks for the info!

they are recalling some plastic baby bottles.
if you look at the bottom and see the number 7, throw it away.
they say it has harmful chemicals that could severly hurt your baby.
specially if you heat your baby;s bottles up, it comes out through the plastic.

!!!!******!!!!!*******!!!!!!*****!!!!!

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Merck & Co (MRK.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Monday it is recalling about 12,000 bottles of Mylicon infant anti-gas drops in the dye-free variety because they may contain metal fragments.
The companies said they are voluntarily recalling two lots of the over-the-counter medicine as a precaution after determining that some bottles could include metal fragments that were generated during the manufacturing process.
They said the potential for serious injury is low, and any effects were expected to be temporary and resolved without medical treatment.
J&J and Merck sell the medicine through a 50-50 joint venture.
The recalled products -- Infants' Mylicon Gas Relief Dye Free (simethicone-antigas) non-staining drops sold in one-ounce plastic bottles -- were distributed nationwide after October 5.
The recall does not affect any Original Infants' Mylicon Gas Relief products (1/2-ounce or 1-ounce size) or Infants' Mylicon Gas Relief Dye Free drops non-staining (1/2-ounce size).
Consumers who have purchased Mylicon drops with lot numbers SMF007 or SMF008 should immediately stop using the product and contact the company at 1-800-222-9435. Parents who have given the product to their infants and are concerned should contact their health care provider immediately, the companies said.
