*Has anyone lost mucus plug at 35 weeks?*
posted 9th Aug '07
I was just wondering if anyone had lost there mucus plug around 35 weeks...I think I did last night when I wiped it was a clot of this boogery substance...not sure if it was all of it or just part of it? Can I still take a bath?

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. I mean, from what I've read, losing your mucous plug isn't necessarily an indication that you're going to go into labor any second now... it's more like your body is preparing for birth because your membranes are starting to thin out.
I'll be honest... I've had a few times now where I've wiped and I'll find this whitish, long gooey looking nastiness on the toilet paper. This has happened to me at least 3 or 4 times in the past 10 weeks. To me, I'm not sure if it's my mucous plug that has been disintegrating, or if it's just super thick discharge. Either way, I'm not too worried about it. I haven't noticed it anytime lately... and I'm almost 35 weeks... so I'm not sure if maybe I've been slowly losing my plug and it keeps regenerating itself? Who knows... I'm trying not to stress.
As far as taking a bath... I'd limit it. I think you're better off taking a warm shower. I could, of course, be wrong... but I wouldn't want to take any chances, considering your plug keeps bacteria out of your cervix and protects the baby. The last thing you want is to be sitting around in bath water that's dirty, and risk infection to your baby.

"The loss of the mucus (bloody show) is merely the loss of the plug that was protecting the baby. It usually comes out at around 38 weeks and is a sign of impending labor. You can still have sex, go swimming, or take baths. However, if you break your water (rupture of fetal membranes), you should refrain from swimming, baths, or sex."
I also confirmed this with my dctr today being as mine literally plopped into the toilet this morning tmi I know

I don't remember all the aches and pains but this time is hard...My stomach hurts and aches all the time, my back hurts sooo bad and it's hard to walk much without it being painful...I feel alot of pressure in my lower stomach and the side hurts alot...
My baby is breech still at 35 weeks so I go into the dr Tuesday again and discuss turning the baby or scheduling a c-section...I decided not to have the baby turned...who know's maybe baby will flip at the last minute?
