Update on Kaiden. (please read)

For everyone who doesn't know, Kaiden Garret Kendrick was born on November 16, 2009. 5lbs, 13 oz, & 18 1/2 inches long. Even though he was born at 37 weeks, he has had a veryy hard time breathing. He was progressing alot within the last couple of days. They took him off of the ventilator because he started crying, but just as fast as they took him off they had too put him right back on because he turnt purple. He's having catscans done on his head too make sure nothing nuerological is going on and that being the reason he's not able too get off of the ventilator. So far no answers, just more questions. Also, he had too be transferred too another hospital too be put on a higher ventilator because he was at East & on the highest settings they had and he still wasn't doing better. They think he spit up & aspirated into his lungs. Since then they haven't been able too feed him or anything. He's been staying sedated and under phototherapy lights for his jaundice.But since being at South he has progressed pretty far, he's still sedated but has been weaned down too a standard ventilator. He's on 28% oxygen & hopefully going too be weaned down too room air (21%) by the end of today & on a rate of 30% & breathing over it despite being sedated. He's also been having too get blood because of all the blood they have been drawing & sucking out of him. I think thats everything. Everyone please keep him in your prayers. He's 6 days old & i've only held him twice. You talk about a guy broke your heart, or you're miserable because of it. You don't know hurt or pain until you see your child suffering, & not being able too breathe. It's the worst feeling in the world, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Kaiden has made such an impact on my life, and has made me a much stronger & better person. I love him soo much. He's my hero <3

so sorry to hear things haven't gone too well for your little guy. just remember, babies are extremely resilient and it sounds like you have a little fighter. hang in there, and i will pray for you and your baby.

i'm definitely praying for him and you too. Stay strong. My son was born the 4th. at 24 weeks. 1lb 8oz. And we have the longest road ahead of us. I hate people talking about guys breaking their heart, when this is the worst heartbreak ever. I wish i could switch my baby places and fight for him.

its hard enough being a mother to a child who is completely healthy, i cant imagine how difficult it must be for you to see your son like this =(

just try to be positive, its what he needs =)
im sure everything will be okay. its unusual to have problems like this at 37 weeks, but it still happens.
have you talked to any other moms with preemies to help you deal with this?

I pray for you. My son is going through the same thing except I had him at 24 weeks, so I know exactly what you're going through. Just stay strong Momma, he'll be fine.
