i hate it when people pressure kids to eat. that's what encourages overeating, imo.

agreed. My son's pedi made a great point - we pick the diet and he chooses the portions. He is in the 50%, so even though he hardly eats, he eats the right stuff. It would be rediculous for me to spank him because he isn't hungry.

yeah...my grandma is the same way, she said when she was little she would get the smurf beat out of her if she didnt finish her plate clean (of course this was in te midst of WWII and rationings and such)

now, she will NEVER not leave her plate empty, even if she is full already.

needless to say she's VERY overweight. it's not the plates fault, I'm just saying she is programmed into eating EVERYTHING...or else.

I get crap for a lot of parenting decisions I make (ERF, CDing, small amts. of sugar, parent led anything) so I am sure what this becomes obvious, I will catch crap for it, too.
