hi my name is AZIA mommy to 4 kids ages 9,8,5 and 1.
i am a non spanking or discipling my kids at all mom
i grew up the same way.

When my niece is mean to my nephew (hits, bites, etc) my sister smacks her. I wonder what that teaches her?

Gavin bit me (probably the closest he has been to "naughty" his whole life). I took him aside (time out I suppose) and talked to him on his level, in a caring voice. Itold him not to bite me or anyone again because it hurts people. I told him I love him and gave him a hug after he sat there for 1 mn.

Anyone else read it?

My parents were in a church that believed that you have to hit your kids and make it hurt for dicipline, if you loved them. So they learn to be good and not go to hell.   so i was spanked hard, brae butt full force, willow switch, wooden spoon. All it taught me to do is fear my parents, and lie to them so i didn't get spanked.

my sister did that too and now my nephew talks back,and will hit her back whenever she spanks him, proving that he is just doing what he thinks is right, what he was taught.
