Quoting J e s s i c a:“ The first post in this thread is a mom saying her daughter's name is Nevaeh.”

Like I said, I don't know anyone with that name personally.

Interesting tidbit here:

Though there were eight girls named Nevaeh in the United States in 1999, Nevaeh was an extremely rare given name before singer Sonny Sandoval of the rock group P.O.D. named his daughter Nevaeh in 2000. He was then featured in the fall of that year on the television program MTV Cribs, and use of the name exploded. The name has been particularly popular with evangelical Christians and black parents. It is also popular in states with a large Hispanic or American Indian population, such as New Mexico. Nevaeh first entered the top 1000 names for girls born in the United States in 2001 when its popularity shot up making it the 266th most common name, as shown at www.behindthename.com. In 2005 it was the 70th most popular name for girls in the United States. In 2006, Nevaeh was the 43rd most popular girls name in the US and was the 31st most popular name for girls in 2007. It fell three places in 2008 to 34th most popular name for girls in the United States. It was the third most popular name for girls born in 2008 in New Mexico, rising from fourth place in 2007. New Mexico was the state where it was most popular in 2008. Nevaeh was the fifth most popular name for black girls born in New York City in 2007. In a recent year it was the most popular name for black baby girls born in Colorado. The alternate spelling Neveah also reached the top 1000 names in 2006 and was the 891st most popular name for baby girls born in the United States in 2007, though the spelling variant fell to 986th most popular name in 2008

1. I had already stated my husband chose her name because he heard it from Sonny Sandoval. He has actually met him.

2. I am an evangelical Christian but it has jack diddly to do with her name.

3. We ain't black.

4. We aren't from New York.

5. She was born in 2004.....well before the name was even in the top 100.

6. My husband will not allow "average" names for our children. He wouldn't even go for Noah for the last kid. He wanted Draven. *gag*

But that's just my 'tidbit'

I didn't type it, but found it and decided to share it.

This has been the year for babies with my friends and co-workers. Here are the names:

Carlie Anne
Jessica Suzanne
Nicholas Alan (my baby)
Steven David
June Marie (Rest in peace sweet little angel   )
Laura Quillen
Piper Nona
Brayden Joseph
Delaney Lorelai

I *think* that is it.

And we are expecting our new nephew end of March 2010.

Lots of babies--a lot of different names.

My friends/family who have had babies within the past 2 years actually chose somewhat decent names.

Leilan
Finneas
Fiona
Victoria
Lillian (but there's three, a little overkill)
Ryder
Noah
Urijah (not a fan of this one but I can't say it's exactly 'trendy')

I tend to perfer "normal" classic names. My sons name is Matthew Thomas and the next baby will either be Andrew William or Madelyn Grace or Lucy Elizabeth. I have a "different" name and I spent my life spelling it for people and correcting them, it sucks! My friends kids names are: Sebastin, Caleb, Lilly, Lincoln, Timothy, Abbi, Olivia, Ricky, Hunter, and Ashlyn. Personally, I do not like when 2 names are combined to come up with a new one (Ashlyn) unless there's meaning behind it.

Oh, you have great taste! I'm a sucker for classics. They aren't the ONLY one's I like, but they definitely rock. I like something as long as it has a real meaning and history and is not random, trendy or made-up. I also hate faux-Irish names, they suck.

me too! I actually have an old Galic (sp?) Irish name, Correne and it's not that I don't like it but I spent my whole life being called Corrin. My husband named our son so I can't take credit for that but he's very traditional too. Lucy was my great grandmothers name so I'd really like to use it but I keep going back to Madelyn for some reason. And my dad's name is William, if it wasn't I'd use it as a first name if we have a boy

Honestly, I prefer Lucy but a long shot. Madeleine is lovely, but working in a daycare kind of killed it for me because there are SO many of them! Lucy is spunky, charming and all around sweet. Lucy Elizabeth is perfect.
