At what age did you take the pacifier away? Any input would be great, I have a 2 year old who LOVES hers!

I never had to take it away... my kids lost interest in theirs by their first birthday.

However, when my daughter became a big sister, she did the "regression" thing and started taking the babys pacifiers. So i got rid of all but one pacifier.

Nathan still has his. He's 7 1/2 months. I don't plan on taking it away anytime soon.

I took Grayce's away when she was about 6 months....mostly cause I wanted to take Bryan's away from him and I wanted them OUT of the house. Bryan was 2 1/2. He was just using it at bed time, but then he'd go in his room and get it! He was ATTACHED to that thing. I heard about an idea that I just had to try. We found all the 'binkys' and cut the tips off. We put them in a plastic bag and went to target. I sort of pretended that each binky was worth 1 dollar. Bryan picked out a cheap movie and a candy.

At the register, the checker totally played along! He counted out the binkys and said all that jazz. He threw them away (I paid on the sly) That was that! Bryan asked about the binkys later and I reminded him. That was it!

When my son was around 20 months I noticed a serious attachment to it. He wanted it all the time when he was just sitting around doing nothing. I have no issue with him having it to sleep, but he didn't need it to just sit around the house. I was also tired of forgetting it at home and having him throw a fit because I didn't have it. I explained to him "bippy is for night night time in your bed only" any time he had it I would take him and put him in his bed. After 3 days of reminders and physically putting him there he stopped asking for it. He still uses it to sleep, but he knows it isn't allowed to leave his bed.
