so im wondering if i should stay with my bank
i overdrew from my account and got ass fucked, but im wondering if all banks are like this...

so i deposited my check and went to anther store and spent the money...okay my mistake should have waited for it to clear. well they charged that and 5 other places i went to that day that werent over withdrawls, and i didnt know that so they had two more from after my check cleared i went two other places not knowing i just lost like a million dollars. each charge was 37 dollars, so it was just shy of three hundred in charges.


i talked to the chick and she was like, well balance your checkbook better blahblahblah im like, thats a lot of money. she said she would give me back two charges...she was really kinda impatient and rude but i think she felt bad she heard Logan screaming in the background lol she gave me back three...
but still thats five charges when i believe i should have only had one....

would you stay with this bank?

Honestly you should of waited for the check to clear if you knew it was going to take time to clear. I know a lot of banks take a day to clear with my credit union if it is a pay check it is available right away. So you might want to look into a option like that.

Well I am sure it is partially yours and theirs. But I used to have all sorts of problems with my old bank like that, may have been my fault. But I still left, took my money, or what I had left and opened a new account in a new bank and started fresh.

Can you get a line of credit? I got a 500$ one put in place just incase, that way i don't get surprise charges.

I hate it also because it happens to me sometimes. I hate overdraft charges, but thats how most banks are My overdraft charge is $28.00 though.

DO you have a savings with them? With my bank I have overdraft protection so if for some reason we over withdrawal, we are safe. They will take out of our savings and we get no charges. I LOVE my bank. I think starting fresh with a new bank though might make you feel better.

I just left Amcore for that shit because my DH didn't tell me he was going to go to the gas station and Dollar General and they were both less than $5 and got charged $35 for each and then it just went down hill from there and was charged $5 a day for being overdrawn. We got it taken care of and closed the account out.

Thats what our bank does. If the check hasn't cleared to be deposited yet, then there is no money in your account to be spending yet. Most the time our bank waits an hour or two from the time the charge was made to see if any money gets put in there, if not then we get charged for overdraft fees.

yeah i know...im going to start direct deposit right away...
but honestly, i didnt know you had to wait for a check to clear, its from work so idk its like...trusted. i actually asked some time back on here and someone said as long as it eventually goes through its okay so i did it back then and nothing happened so i thought it would be ok....

I have the samething with my credit union.

could you have your check direct deposited? That way it would be avaliable the day you get paid.

yeah i just made a savings. theres nothing in it now, its hard to actually...save money working at wendys lol

ugh and they take FOREVER for a check to go through....

Well if one check or debit bounced then any after that would just put you in the negative. My bank is the same way. Although my check doesn't actually make it into my account until the next business day if I put it in before 2pm and if I put it in after that then it's two business days. It sucks big ones, but.. I found out that cash makes it into my account immediately so maybe next time you could cash your check there and then deposit the cash? Or switch banks, but I'm pretty sure that most banks are like that.

Yeah all checks have to go through before getting deposited into your account. If my charge is made and the check hasn't cleared yet it gives me about an hr or two before it charges me overdraft.
