There's always the possibility he just isn't ready (I know, I know - NOT what you want to hear).

But by not ready, I don't mean physically. Perhaps he's a 100% go in that area. It just sounds like emotionally/mentally he's not ready b/c the 11 month old is in diapers "so why can't I" be too? kwim?

Maybe take the approach of "the baby will walk soon and Mommy needs a big boy helper. I want YOU to be my big boy helper. But big boys have to make pee pee and poo poo on the potty first." ....or similar. I guess it all depends on his language abilities. My 26 month old totally wouldn't understand that! ha!

My daughter just started going on her potty chair! She has gone 3 times now so even though she is young for this (11mos) we're going to take her initiative and run with it! We ordered a "potty watch" and as soon as that comes in I'm going to buckle down and work on helping her learn to potty on her chair! Wish me luck  

My son just turned 3 monday, and today it really shocked me, because he went and got on the commode and pooped! I was so excited! I looked at the farmers almanac and it said the best days to potty train this month were: Jun 4, 5, 6, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30.............so if he still acts like hes going to start I'm going to take a week off from everything at the end of the month, well the 25-30 and do nothing but potty train. My sister used the farmers almanac to get rid of her sons passy and he did it that day, so hopefully it will work with potty training too! We've tried pullups and taking him to the potty and he still doesn't want much to do with it, but only when he wants to, so I'm going to keep trying, maybe I can get rid of these diapers!

Unfortunately I think he may not be ready. I have to take him to Children's Hospital to see a developmental specialist because he's having sleep and behaviorial problems. I'll bring it up.

And the little one is already walking- has been walking for a month! x_x

My 22 month old is really making an effort to potty train these days... only one dry diaper a day lately... this is so great   A good start to a long process!

Just now he went potty, and as he is bending over to get the pot to dump the pee in the toilet I hear him proudly say "GOOD JOB PENIS"....

Haha...I love it! The other day my son was arguing with me saying, "Momma hold the penis," on the way to the potty. I kept saying, "no, you hold the penis." I just thought, only another potty training parent would not balk at this conversation!   He is standing up to pee now and suddenly has developed a deep hatred for drips of pee on his hands...I overheard daddy in there with him trying to teach him to hold it at the base. Too funny!!!
