That's how I felt about it before we started! I was so dreading it and was planning on putting it off until closer to 3 for Ethan, but he led the way and started WAY early (for me anyway) and finished very quickly. I can't believe how easy it was for him...I say that now and it will probably take his little brother a couple years to get it done! lol

Good luck!

Are you using a regular toilet or potty chair?

I was completely dreading potty training and not thinking too much about it. We had bought a potty at about 17 months, and it was just always there in the bathroom. We weren't very consistent until about a month ago about putting him on it and even then we would only do it as his bath was filling up.
He just turned 2 and about a week ago I walked into his room to see his diaper fly out of his closet (he was in there and had juust taken it off) so I asked if he wanted to sit on the potty and he actually took me hand, walked to the bathroom and went!
The next day he went 3 times.
We haven't been very consistent with it still. Have been putting him in pull ups/easy ups but also alternating with regular diapers because I want to use the rest.
He has good days and well I wouldn't say "bad" days, but days he doesn't go in the potty very often.
We still aren't pushing it much.
Anywayyys, I read an article online earlier about putting on big boy underwear UNDER a pull up so they still feel it but no leaks, as opposed to the cloth trainers. Anyone tried this? Thoughts?

I don't know...we just skipped the pull ups and went straight to underwear. Worked like a charm for my son. He was content to sit in a wet diaper, but wet undies he wanted out of ASAP and then more likely to avoid the situation altogether!

I cant read through 10 million posts so I apologize if this has been brought up already, but here it goes:

My daughter is almost 29 months old. She has never peed on the potty when I sit her on it. We have tried the small potty and the regular potty many MANY times. I really don't mind waiting to train her until closer to 3, or whenever she is ready. BUT, she will NOT tell me if she is wet or dirty and HATES diaper changes. She throws the biggest fits and fights me every time I need to change her.

So if that is a sign it is time to potty train, I will go with it. The obstacles I have right now with potty training though are that she refuses to even sit on the potty most times.

My other option is to continue to wait until she is ready, but I have to get her to start telling me if she is wet or dirty, AND (for my sanity!) I need her to stop fighting me at diaper change times.

What advice do you all have? Should I try those cool sensation pullups? Should I just bite the bullet and put her in big girl panties? Or should I use some other method to get her to stop fighting me at diaper changes? I am MAJOR frustrated with her. I refuse to let her sit in wet diapers all day, but if that's what she wants I am tired of fighting her.

Oh and she is in that wonderful stage of saying that she WANTS something and then 2 seconds later she throws a fit because she doesnt want it. Then you take it away and she throws another fit because she wants it. This is spilling over into using the potty.

Two year olds are a pain in my ASS! HELP!

I would go with either a naked butt or straight up big girl undies.

She's plenty old enough that when she makes a mess she can clean it up (not well, I'm sure! lol), but cleaning up after herself is an appropriate and necessary consequence of messing outside the toilet.

I hope she gets the hang of this soon!!

If you're toddler showed NO signs of wanting to use the potty how did you get them to start sitting on it ?

i bribed my daughter with bubbles. I let her sit on the potty and blow bubbles. Now she doesn't mind sitting on it lol.

My daughter is the same. She is also a Spetember baby. I'll join you at bootcamp!

I put him in big boy underwear ONCE and he peed and FREAKED out. I couldn't help but laugh but I'm thinking I may have to do the same. I don't want him being freaking 5 in diapers. lol
