Thank you =)

How does she do at nights, is she really wet when she wakes up?

Do you know how often she has to go? With Nika the portable potty was right for us as she still doesn't use her toilet seat, but maybe your little one would prefer a toddler toilet seat?

Also, what about a doll that goes potty? I got one Nika for Christmas last year, she was barely a year old but she thought it was hilarious and she loved putting the doll on the potty next to herself, we have the baby born one lol they're a pain to feed though >.>

Are you guys doing the cloth undie thing or the pull up thing?

She is normally really wet in the mornings, she wakes up once a night and drinks a half glass of water and then goes right back to bed. I notice every once in a while, she does this little shake when she goes, so sometimes I can tell but other times I can't. The doll thing is a good idea I never thought about that! She loves babies and she is really into changing the babies diapers right now. I bought her a potty chair that is in our bathroom by ours, and I take her in there and I sit on ours and i put her on hers. We do pull ups and diapers go back and forth between them.

I vote try to get across the consequences of being wet, what about those gerber trainer pants, you know the ones that don't soak through, she'll still feel the wetness, you won't deal with the mess and she'll figure out why it is you want her to go on the potty. I'm not saying let her sit there wet or anything but you know, just to take that next step away from diapers as I strongly believe a lot of toddlers wet diapers because they have no idea why we want them to use potties to begin with.

I think the doll would be a great idea for her, children mostly learn from practical examples and because she loves dolls and babies, sounds like just the right thing for her

I vote don't worry about the nights just yet, in general potty training in my opinion shouldn't be a 'cold turkey' approach because when it's a gradual transition it's less pressure on the little one, so about night time wetting, I think you'll work on crossing that bridge when you get there, that is when you have daytime more or less covered

There's a doll/book set listed in the OP if you need a PT doll suggestion.

Thanks =)

I hope it gives some insight from a different stand point, I've met far too many women who were far too 'zomg, you traumatized your child and took away her childhood with all that potty training' whereas in reality Nika would have been a miserable child prone to rashes and constant discomfort, her skin is just too sensitive, it's almost porcelain pale. She actually even broke out in a rash on her forehead because I just bought her a new winter hat and it's got fleece lining, apparently her skin won't tolerate even that!

oh, poor thing!!

My sister also has sensitive skin -- she gets contact dermatitis from the strangest things.

I have a question maybe you lovely ladies could help with....

My son will be 16 mos next week, and when he poops or has a full diaper he points to it and brings me wipes or a diaper if they are within reach.

Do you think I should introduce a potty to him? ( No, I dont expect him to PT this young)

I think you should definitely acquaint him with the potty, and if you know what type he poops, when it's around that time put him on the potty and keep him on it by reading to him, or talking to him while he does his business, it only takes a couple of times and he may just catch the idea, good luck!

Yes! Being around his own potty (or just the common potty) may peak his interest more, and it'll be less scary/uncomfy when you make a stronger effort to PT b/c he'll already be familiar with the size, feel, noise, purpose, etc.

I would ask her if she wants to sit on the potty pretty often -- say every hour? And when she pees on the floor, scoop her up and put her on the potty saying something like "Can you make more pee pee on the potty?" Then wipe, flush, wash.
