I never thought about the xmas gifts interfering!

Darwin has lost interest too. I hear/see the signs, ask him if he wants to make poo poo on the potty, and just flat out says "nooo" and continues in his diaper.   I assumed he just didn't wanna strip down and feel a cold burst of air! (we have a vent right by the toilet -- so I typically slap him on, run to turn the stat up a couple of degrees, but there's always a 2 min lag from stopping the fan, heating up, and then blowing the heat.)

I've heard tell that spring/summer is always easier to potty train...clothes easier to take off, warmer weather/floors/air, etc.

This is a good thing. He is learning his body signals.

What were the circumstances surrounding the 3 accidents? (too busy, being defiant, other...)

Most people say pullups dont work. They are the same as diapers.

When we really started training our dc asked us to bring in 3-5 outfits & extra shoes JIC. Everyday he did better. We did use pullups at nap & night for a little while. Day training & night training are different though.

my son showed interest in his potty but then lost it. now he screams if i even mention sitting on the potty. my family likes to throw their two sense in about how he is too old to be in diapers.

i'm just not sure when or if i should start forcing it on him harder???? he is 28 mths now. which doesn't seem too old for diapers IMO, but he appears to be much older and so I do get lots of looks when i change him in public.

i just don't know what to do really, or how to even start the potty training experience. i thought he'd naturally be interested in it, but that came and went quickly.

My LO was almost completely potty trained! She always told me when she needed to go and everything, within the last week she has COMPLETELY stopped. I don't know why or how to start back up, because I ask her now if she has to go and she says no then pees in her pullsup.

Whats worse is she is now lying about her peeing. She'll yell peepee like she has to go, but it is just to get us to follow her around and try and catch her.

He could have seen it as super cool awesome for that first bit and then thought "eh, w/e; old news...on to Toiiiiiyzz!"

I would just suggest staying consistent in your efforts so that he sees it's something you do daily, not when you feel like it. And a lot of the adult books in the OP were suggested by other BG moms. I haven't gotten my hands on the 200 most FAQ, but it seems that could be a good place to start.

1. 28 mths is NOT too old!! He's just 2!

2. You don't want PT'ing to become a power struggle, so I wouldn't force it if he is screaming.

3. Is he scared of the toilet? Like scared of the flushing noise or "losing" a part of his body (pee/poo) down the drain?

4. Have you checked out some of the adult books on PT'ing in the OP?

5. I would listen to a doc/pedi for advice before your family in this instance.

Did something change in your lives? Like...new family babies? going to family for the holidays with a younger child around? Diff jobs? Diff routine?

Sounds like she's one smart cookie and knows PT'ing is the way to get your attention.

If she's also 3, then she's plenty old enough to walk into the bathroom, pull down her own pants, and start everything on her own. So when she says pee-pee repeatedly, I would just tell her "okay - sit on your potty and make pee pee" No chasing. If she doesn't go in, she was fibbing. If she does go in, then yay!

She's only 2, but me and my SO have been arguing more lately. I think that might be the change? Would that do it?

Thanks for the advice. I'm just going to keep trying.

I, personally, think it could. Then again, every kid/person is different. Oh! Perhaps she's trying to distract you two by playing the pee pee card?! That would be reallllllly smart and devious!

My son is almost 2 (gulp!), and he recently lost interest in the potty. So we're just going with the flow. It's winter, and I've heard that can really put a damper on PT'ing efforts (baby version of winter depression?! maybe...). My prediction is things will turn around by the time warm weather returns.
