Hi everyone!!! My son just turned 1 today and for his bday he got a potty. After he woke up from his nap I sat him down on the potty and let the water in the sink run and I even ran water on his privates so maybe he would go, but nothing worked. Just looking for some advice on what to do. I am so confused with all this. lol

I have been trying to potty train my lil one, she is very interested in the toilet, and loves to sit on it. If you ask her "Do you have to go potty?" Regardless is she does of doesn't she'lll reply "uh-huh" So far she has peed once and only pooed once but it was because she had the runs and i heard her toot and put her directly on the potty. I've been trying for a month now, with no prevail. im thinking of switching to plain underwears but i'm very afriad of all the messes i'm going to have to clean up...i.e. bedding, the carpet (especially with 3 dogs in the house) Any suggstions?
She is 19 months

I would wait until he shows signs, that's what I did with my son.

I was weary of undies too, but it's the only thing that works with us. In the beginning stages while he's awake I use undies or have him go naked. And nap time and night time I put a diaper/pull up on him.

If she prefers this method, you'll just have to invest in some good carpet cleaner lol

What type of signs is he showing for readiness?

It's possible that for a few months the potty will just be a chair for him, which is fine! It' so much better to introduce the concept young so that it's less scary/new when they're trying to figure the details out.

meeee toooo! I'm afraid of the messes and DH is beyond 100% anti-nekkie time.

We have a number of cats that pee inappropriately already so DH doesn't want LO pee/poo to encourage the cats to do more no-no's. And, I don't have lil one to myself remotely long enough to sneak in secret nekkie time.

I'm thinking we'll wait until he's hit all points on all checklists (like he can't pull his own pants off) and then try one of those "train in a day" techniques.

we have "the little green machine" and like it. It's like a small, portable steam cleaner.

He is really curious when I go potty so I was thinking it was time because he wanted to do what I was doing, but he has been intimidated by the big potty. He loves sitting on his potty so I have been letting him sit on it as long as he wants. I just have absolutely no idea what to do. lol

SOO proud of my little boy!! He asked me this morning if he could wear his Buzz underwear and i explained to him he had to tell me if he needed to peepee cuz he doesn't want to go on Buzz... lol
I made sure that i kept asking and asking, and soon enough he came up to me held himself and i asked if he had to peepee and he said yes! so we sat on the potty with a book and sure enough as soon as he sat the potty started to sing! haha he got a chocolate kiss and was so excited! yay! he's ready!!!
