we didn't really potty train our daughter, it was more she did it herself in a way. we helped but we just followed her steps. she shwoed us when she was ready to take the next steps.
but a couple tips i use are:
keep everything positive
let them run around naked(worked very well with my daughter)
when they do go make a HUGE deal out of it. with my daughter we would let her call my mom and tell her that she went on the potty.

For mommas who say their LO is now relapsing and no longer interested in potty training, I found this:

"Ready, Set…Not Yet

“I THOUGHT my son was ready …However, he no longer wants to go into the bathroom at all,“ a mom on the message boards explains. “When asked about the potty his reply is ‘NO!’ At times it's a struggle to even get him into the area.”
If your first attempts are absolutely hopeless—or if your child starts out fine, but then gets hopelessly stuck, no worries! It’s not unusual for the potty chair to go back into the closet for weeks, or even months. If your child loses interest, hold off for a few weeks and then try again.
Toilet training is a developmental process. Children’s bodies and brains are developing all the time, and each new phase sets the foundation for those to come. No amount of teaching can make those developments happen before their time. You’ll have an easier, happy time of it if you wait until you’re sure your child is ready."

I don't care that I'm late. This is the internet and she did post about her personal life on here. This is a public forum, not private. Just pointing that out to you.

Well since I've been reading the thread, I guess I'll give my 2 cents.

I think when your child is ready, you will know. I tried to do it when I was ready but PTing just doesn't work that way. Once SHE was ready, I just said no more diapers and she never wore another diaper again - night time or otherwise. She never had even one accident until 6 months after she had been potty trained. I think pushing a child who isn't ready is about the worst thing you can do. Studies are all generic, they don't address YOUR child.

that is balogna. I've taken SO many child development classes and helped potty train almost 40 kids. If you force it, it takes twice as long. You should INTRODUCE the potty before 2 years, but do NOT force potty training before then.

she said TO let her play with the TP

that first thing on the top is bull!!! you need to say that it is ONE opinion and stop acting like you know all about pt'ing and that is the consensus of ALL experts.

Based on your last line, you completely agree with the study

If the 1st on top is bull, you wouldn't have agreed with it in your last post. You do agree with it. If you had read the article in entirety you'd realize this.

Also, I don't need to say anything just b/c you want it to be so. I have a number of opinions -- some from my own research and some from ladies in this thread -- on that main OP. Don't like it? Don't read it. Simple.

Did I ever say "hey, I'm a PT guru!"? No. So stop making things up.

You were extremely helpful in the beginnings of this thread. As of late, you've been nasty, rude, and unproductive. As a courteous explanation for my future silence, I am personally ignoring you so my thread can stay further on topic -- which is PT and not fight picking.

Your statement is that you should POTTY TRAIN before 24 months. Clarify because that's what it looks like!!!
