Quoting Alyssa's Mommy*:" Alyssa just started showing an interest in the potty...she will take off her diaper and say pee pee and ... [snip!] ... going to be 3 in September ) is there anything I can try to make her go pee pee on the potty instead of just sitting on it ?"

What worked for my daughter (with peeing so far anyway) is i made a potty chart and bought some stickers and I also took her to the bathroom every 20 minutes or so and made it sound like a really exciting adventure. I'd sit on the potty too, even though I didn't have to go so that she wouldn't feel alone. we'd then sit there for a couple of minutes and when she'd pee I'd make a super excited face and tell her how proud I was and then we'd do a "potty dance" and sing! lol she loved it. "I went pee pee in the potty! I went pee pee in the potty!!" and we'd shimmy and shake haha! She now goes to the bathroom all on her own.. the only problem that I'm having is that she doesn't want to go poop on the potty. She's done it once.. but now she keeps having accidents. I guess I'm just going to have to be more proactive about making sure that I take her ever hour or so... but does anyone have any suggestions in that part?

I haven't personally tried the naked method, but during naps I'd put a pull up on them.. just because while they're sleeping they can't really help if they have any accident.

My daughter just turned 2 and is fully PEE potty trained. She decided one night a couple months ago that she wanted undies and has worn them ever since. At daycare they would put a pullup on during nap time and I would put one on at bedtime and every time I did, she would pee in it. So I just stopped using pullups all together because they pull the moisture away from their body so they dont realize they had an accident. Yes I had a few nights where I had to change her pjs and her bedding but she has been totally pee accident free for 2 months. We even went on a 7 hour car ride and she also stayed dry the entire time or would tell us that she had to go and would wait until we stopped. We are too still having pooping accidents but she has always been very constipated so the dr thinks that has a lot to do with it. Good luck.

Thanks! I think that she's just embarrassed about it? like, she will go into my bedroom, close the door.. then she'll go into my bathroom and close the door and do her business in her undies.. I keep asking her why and I tell her how proud I would be if she would poop in her potty like she did at her grandpas. That's what's getting me! She was so excited about going poop in his potty but she won't do it anymore. ugh.. it's a work in progress lol Good Luck to you too!

Very much a work in progress. My daughter always goes off by herself too. The dr told us that she does that because she is straining so hard being constipated that she has to get comfortable for her body to relax to be able to pass it. We started doing a Poop chart and her dad set the # at 5 times in the potty she gets a new toy and this time is a Barbie. Then the next time it will be something else and hopefully that will be the end of it. I didnt want to do the whole chart thing but we did small candies like pez for peeing and she fazed out of that herself that it wasnt needed anymore after a week or so, SO I am hoping this will work. She is 1 sticker away from getting that Barbie! Oh another suggestion, which I am doing and my SIL did, put the prize in the bathroom up out of their reach so they know it will be there until they earn it.

My daughter will be 3 in October. She hasn't worn a diaper since January 23rd of this year. She did really awesome in the beginning. No accidents at night and very few during the day.

But now she seems to have a lot of "accidents" during the day when we are home, she does well at other people's houses, and when we are out in town doing whatever. But at home she tends to forget? I guess to go? She tells me 98% of the time when she has to go, or she just goes to the bathroom and goes on her own. But it seems like if she is in her room playing, or watching a movie, she won't stop to go potty. And she has night accidents sometimes now, where a couple months ago, she didn't.

Any advice? Should I go back to reminding her to go a lot? Keep her out of her room during the day for a couple days? And I *know* I should limit her liquid intake a couple hours before bed. We're doing that now.

I just feel like she has regressed a bit. This is my first potty training experience so sorry if I'm asking stupid questions.

UPDATE! My daughter has had no accidents period for a week now, if she has to poop she goes in the bathroom and goes now! She still gets stickers until this chart is full and she earns this prize and then I think we are done with the prizes too!!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

i put my son in a mothers day program and his teacher lines up all the kids about every 45 minutes to go potty. she believes that if i continue this at home (putting him on the toilet) that he will be trained in 2 weeks... do u think this is possible?
my son knows what peepee and poop is. when he has to pee, he will either hold it in so he doesnt have to sit on the potty or take off running to a different room if he cant hold it no more..

My daughter in 3 and 1/2 and she is completely potty trained. However, she refuses to go to bed at night without a pull-up on. When she takes a nap she doesnt wear a diaper and she is just fine, any advice that would help me get my daughter completely potty trained?

ok so i bought a potty today   my toddler just turned 2 in June, so far she's played with it a little, but doesn't show much interest in sitting on it. My question is, we are moving in two months and going to be taking like a 18 hour plane ride to get back to the states, do you ladies think it would be best to wait until after we move to start trying to PT? and just leave the potty out until then to let her get used to it? i know big changes like that can really mess up a kids progress, so im thinking it might be just better to wait a few more months.

My daughter is 17mo. And I just introduced the potty to her just to see what would come of it, and she has already used it a few times. Every time someone goes potty, she pulls her britches down and sits right on it. So adorable! If I tell her lets go potty she knows what to do. But She will not poo in it. I don't know how to get that concept down. But it's a good start considering how young she still is
