Quoting Robin expecting #2:“ At the risk of embarising myself.... I was around 8 when I started wetting the bed again.. They did ... [snip!] ... pull ups to a birthday party.. No one knew sept the girls parents and even then they didnt say anything to me about it..”

Well, there are 2 scenarios I'm thinking of when I say it seems off/wrong.

1. An 8 yr old never came out of diapers (i know, I know, it's not feasible unless said child was homeschooled, but whatev)

2. An 8 yr old in your case who had a set back for whatever reason.

In the first scenario, something is highly wrong. Maybe even disturbingly wrong -- barring any know birth defects/disorders of course. In the second scenario, it depends on what testing/life situations have to say. For you, specifically, something had to have happened that may not even be outwardly related; and it passed.

Hrm...I hadn't thought of needing to focus specifically on one milestone...I assumed when one thing clicked it just flowed over so to speak into other facets. Like learning fine motor pinching allows for easier self feeding -- of certain foods.

Quoting i love my sunshine:“ it is abuse. and should not be ignored.”

Ignoring and getting over are 2 different things.

To turn a PT thread into an "omg u suck" thread is something that should be stopped. Now.

^^^^^^ WTF does home schooling have ANYTHING to do with it?!? Lydia will be homeschooled. WTF?

Kindly remove the stick from your ass.

No child in public school would be 8 yrs old and never have been out of diaps. Therefore, an 8 yr old in the first -- hypothetical -- scenario would have to be a homeschooled child.

Did anyone say all home schooled children are in diaps? No. Did anyone say Lydia will be in diaps as an 8 yr old? No.

You've had some insightful tidbits in the past -- but honestly, if you have nothing further that is neutral/positive, I request you rethink posting in this thread again. This is a support thread for potty training. You are not currently being supportive.

it was an ignorant comment!! Don't make ignorant comments if you don't want backlash from them.

I have never met a child who doesn't have some type of disability in diapers at 8 years old. It won't happen. They'll potty train themselves before then.

As far as this being a support thread for potty training, it's turning into a support thread for ignorance and abuse. No one can say anything about the abusive response to regression nor your ignorance on homeschooling and unpotty trained 8 year olds.

You made the ignorant comment by personalizing something that was never directing towards you.

In fact, you were butting your nose in on someone else's private and brave confession. Don't trivialize the conversation her and I are having b/c you can't handle hypotheticals.

Again. Stop your own virtual abuse on people who say something you do not like at face value. It's not cool.

you're pretty ignorant, aren't you?

MOST kids who are homeschooled have MORE attentive parents and are actually potty trained FASTER than kids who go to daycare or public school. Your statement was ignorant, rude, and completely idiotic.

As far as me saying something about the abusive act of putting a child into a cold shower as punishment, I WILL say something when I see abuse being talked about.

You are personalizing this. Stop. It was never meant for you. Stop.

No one ever said a broad, sweeping statement about homeschooled children in a negative manner. No one. Stop pretending it happened.

Your negative can go to CFC is you truly want to bitch some more. This thread is about potty training. Try to stay on topic.

Okay. You're not personalizing it. And you didn't like it. All good enough. Now we'll drop the tangent for another....

I'm glowing red numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now we'll drop that tangent too and get back on track with potty training.

Hi Patrisha and Eli!

Thanks for coming in.

I think the biggest tip in regards to equipment is potty seat (goes on big potty) vs. stand alone small potty. I was always against the latter, but have come to find that since DH is with LO in the mornings do his own ---erm, "potty time" LOL -- that LO has nowhere to sit and mimic. So I may have to break down and get a stand alone potty.

Other than that, the biggest tips from this thread are to address accidents matter-of-factly and leave out any negative emotions like "you suck" "you disappoint me" "that's bad" etc. Keep it "Next time try to pee/poo in your potty."
