My 2 year old just scared the crap out of me! She was supposed to be napping and I hear her yell really loud for me. I go upstairs and ask whats wrong and is all excited telling me she has to go potty!

She has been PT'd for a month now and is getting really great at telling me when she has to go at naptime. bedtime though is a different story.

Congrats on her being excited!!

And don't worry about bedtime being more difficult - it typically is! G'luck on the continued training!!

My son is 2 1/2 yrs old and yet he won't take the the time to try to use the potty I have tried to show him his dad has tried to show him and it dnt seem to work. What age will they know when they have to use the potty instead of going in his diaper. But he is wearing pull ups and he does lets me know if he went pooped or when he went pee is that a good start off??

My two and a half year old little man had been doing really well peeing and pooping in the potty....I felt like we were on the right track. But over the past week or so he's acting as if he's lost all interest in using the toilet. He peed so many times in his pull ups yesterday and didn't even bother telling me he had gone. We even bought a potty snack jar and told him every time he uses the toilet he can get a snack but that hasn't worked either....what's going on? :[ help!

Yes, good start.

Each kid is different as to when they know they are ready...just keep trying with low pressure.

Totally normal regression!

My LO did that after being trained for 5 months. We had to take a 2 month break and try again. He's doing wonderfully now because of it.

Hi Everyone!

I'm so excited that I am actually able to post in here now.

My son Anthony is 19 months old. We bought a potty about two months ago when he was 17 months old and sat it next to the big potty after he started showing a lot of interest in the big potty. We didn't start potty training at all but just left it there for him to check it out and he sat on it a lot with his clothes on, especially while I would pee.

I've been watching a 20 month old girl who I'm potty training and she goes about 3-4 times a day just with me and then with her parents too . I think that has been one of the major things that has made him much more interested recently, she tells him to come watch her and tries to get him to sit on it

Today when we were eating dinner he pointed at himself and said "mommy, pee pee, potty?" so I brought him in and he sat on it but only one drop came out (still more than ever before). He got up and said all done so I didn't push it but then about a minute later went back in and went pee pee, a lot!

I was SO excited!

The only bad news is that our potty isn't big enough or something  . When he sits on it his pee pee hangs over the top instead of in the potty  . If I put him on it myself ALL the way back then it just barely goes in the potty but if he sits on it himself it always goes over the top. When he peed, it ended up going all near his toes and he stood up quickly and slipped in it (which I hope didn't scare him out of doing it again). I need tons of advice on a better potty that won't cause this problem!

We had better luck with an insert...just the doughnut shape that sits on top of the regular potty...

I hope we don't take a long break like that :[ but I'd rather do that then try to force him and end up prolonging the whole potty training process. Ohhhh the joys of toddlers! lol.

When they are ready, they are ready. All the rewards/toys/etc will only encourage them to actually USE (practice) the potty but beyond that it's all up to them. And disruptions (for example travel) can put them ahead or behind only to regress when you're back home.

Anthony doesn't like the big potty at all   he loves to flush it for me and tell me to go on it but I tried to lift him up a few times and put him on it and he says "all done!" over and over and I just put him back down and we left it at that and went and did another activity because I didn't want to push it.

My son has used the potty (he turned 3 in January) on his own a few times, including in daycare, but we just can't seem to get him to potty train. We've tried treats and everything online but so far, nothing works...I guess we'll have to wait until he's ready. HAHA!

yeah with my first I started with him before he was two, spend tons of time and money on all sorts of treats, games, prizes, stickers, bullseyes... It went back and forth. First he would get the poo in the potty okay... then he would get the pee right (but not the poo). Back and forth. We went on vacation a few times and he finally was potty trained, or so I thought, but then we'd get back home and I'd discover nasty poo on the ground in the middle of the living room. He finally got it when he was about 3... I really think it's because HE was ready. Then we kept the pull up on during nights for about 4-5 more months, and after that he didn't need anything at night (but I would put waterproof bed sheets under the mattress just in case for a while - you know the ones older people would use).

As for the best potty seat cover (in response to Anthony's Mommy's post), this is it: The Best Potty Seat Trainer (it's the bjorn potty seat trainer and it's amazing b/c it does not shift, and it fits perfectly making it seem like it's part of the bigger potty!)

Quoting Mom of a Genius:" Oh, a sticker chart?! How does that work? Darwin loooooooves stickers -- but he loves to put them ... [snip!] ... but he loves to put them all over his body. Then he takes them off one by one, and of course a couple end up in his mouth.  "

we are starting potty training with my daughter she is almost 14mo simply because she will not keep her diaper on lol we are going to use a sticker chart for her 1 sticker for peepee and 2 for poopy. she went peepee on her potty lastnight i was super excited

hello everyone, i am new here and didn't read much. i just wanted to let everyone know about this new potty training pants i found. it is called Under Wonderwears. I use the Night Trainer for my daughter and they hold up great! and I use the Advanced Trainer for when we go out and stuff. they have velcro sides so when my stubborn little girl poopies in them, i don't have the messy legs! they are great because they are just like regular undies but with velcro! my daugher loves them and doesn't want to mess them up, so she is using the potty more often! i love them and wanted to share. they are affordable too! i only paid $15. ea. which is great when you compare them to some others that don't even open for $20! Check out this site y'all, you'll love them! www.underwonderwears.com good luck!!!
