Quoting Animal Guardian:“ So your LO is okay with putting just one sticker on the chart? Darwin can't stop with just one (it's like a bad Lay's chips commercial! lol)”

Yup he's satisfied with the one sticker. The chart and stickers are kept on a shelf that he can reach with a stool. He goes and gets the stool, takes down the chart/stickers, picks a sticker, sticks it on then puts everything away.

I'm in awe! lol

That'd be a no-go for Darwin right now -- "More. More....more....MORE!"

We got a potty when Lydia was 6 months because we were doing part time EC (didn't end up working for our lifestyle) and she was into stuff so it was the only way I could go to the bathroom was to put her on the potty. She was crawling.

She sat on it whenever we did until 13 months. Then we moved and she began disliking it again. I didn't want to encourage the fear, so at 16 months we started giving her stickers for sitting on the toilet.

At 18 months she started showing all the readiness signs. She would take her diaper off before she peed on the floor.   and other things. She got a rash and was having naked time and peed on the floor. I told her "don't pee on the floor! do it on the potty!!" so she stopped and went to the potty. for two weeks she would use the potty ONLY if she was naked. Otherwise she peed in her diaper/panties.

At 19 months she was fully potty trained.

She is now 22 months and having some regression due to a scary incident. We're just trying to encourage her to get back on the potty and giving stickers and praise. I don't want to encourage the fear by putting her back in diapers.

Ellie is 16 months old.. She shows no signs of being ready other then she loves the bathroom, but mainly the bath tub... For about 1 1/2 months now we put her on the potty to poop. She doesnt tell us she needs to go. She's usually always a little constipated so when she starts grunting and gets that "look" we take her to the bathroom and sit her on the toilet. Then tell her good job, good girl, etc when shes done.. I bought her a potty chair a couple of weeks ago and she not to into it.. I sit her on it when I go to the bathroom and tell her "peepee"

We arnt like trying real hard yet to potty train her.. Just taking it a little day by day..

part time EC? I'm not familiar with this...

And OMG congrats on potty training mostly done by 19 months!!

G'luck on the retraining efforts. Here's what lil I found about regression: "...you may just need to offer reminders to use the potty...Even if he doesn't go, you can offer praise and extra attention simply for the fact that he tried.
And try to treat his accidents lightly. That means cleaning them up matter-of-factly and reminding him that he is supposed to go in the potty. This is not a situation that requires any kind of punishment. And as Vicki Lansky says in her guide to Toilet Training, be sure that you "don't overreact." You want to be careful that you don't reinforce his behavior, since any negative attention he gets for doing this can reinforce it. And you don't want to make it a power struggle.
A reward chart or chart where you place stickers for the days when he doesn't have an accident can also be helpful. As can reading some of the potty training books for children."

elimination communication.

we were completely potty trained until 2 weeks ago when she got scared.

We just have her help us clean up her accidents and say "next time let's use the potty" and we've brought out the stickers again. sometimes it's simply that she's busy and the novelty has worn off, but for a week she was not using it at all and when we'd try to remind her she'd scream and say it was scary

I'm sorta doing that too.

Darwin is 19 months and shows some signs he's ready, but not all. So we got him a seat that goes on the big potty and have put him on it twice. He was more interested in sucking in his puppy belly to look at his penis! LOL! But we still congratulate him for sitting there and "trying." And he loves loves loves to wipe himself, throw it in the potty, flush, and say bye-bye

make a huge deal whenever he peed. <-- did he start peeing at 22 months, or did it take time before he realized he should pee?

Till I actually had S thats all I did though. I would put him on the toilet when I changed his diaper in the morning & before bath at night. <-- How much time elapsed? Meaning, did you start early in the pregnancy or towards the end?

I would flush his poop down the toilet & we would say bye-bye boo-boo (poop). We did this for about 6 weeks.
<-- Did he decide on his own to poop in the potty after 6 weeks, or did you suggest it after six weeks and it just worked?

I remembered reading in a book that a cold shower might help. <-- Interesting. I hadn't heard of this one before. Do you remember which book by chance?

  Loud toilet in public?

I was scared of public toilets flushing for a long time b/c they were sooo much louder and forceful -- I'm sure the echoing tiles didn't help!

Quoting Animal Guardian:“ Interesting read. I agree with positive reinforcement. And I completely agree with the articles "warning" ... [snip!] ... we in theory already doing these things? Sheena, what are you doing for rewards? What have you found works/doesn't work?”

Those rewards seem lame to me. lol. I mean the stickers might be cool I have TONS of stickers that I have been buying and stashing since my daughter was born specifically for this purpose!  I was thinking about getting her a sticker album to collect them in also.
But as far as reading a book or going to the park...we do that anyway, so if she doesn't pee in the potty...do you not read to her that day? lol.  A reward should be something fun that they don't normally get (whether it is stickers, an m&m or other small candy, etc).

I think you could do like every so many stickers you get a trip to chuck e cheese or something that is not an every day thing ya know?  Or every so many stickers you can go to the store and they pick out a new package of underpants with their favorite character/design.

I honestly haven't really pushed PT at ALL.  We are just going with the flow, so to speak...lol.  I think once she actually goes on the potty for the first time then we will be a little more active about it, but for now it's just keeping her familiar w/ the process at her own pace.  Might sound weird but I am actually in no rush to PT her. I am not against it at her age whatsoever, but I don't mind doing the diaper thing still...
And thanks for the compliment on her vocabulary!

exactly. "Oh sorry Susie. You did pee so you don't get a g'night book."

I like the idea of so many = something big. I don't like rewarding with candy -- I don't like to pass it out at Halloween either! lol I opt for "alternatives" such as play-doh, themed pencils, spider rings, etc.

Welcome! We've still got just random words on our end. He communicates well by pointing and shaking his head no, etc...but he's not too interested in verbal communication.
