I have Mirena (with hormone) and love it! I've had no periods (normal with any IUD) and it has had no effect on my milk supply, sex drive, etc. No moodiness or anything either.

I just love not thinking about it!

I second Talkin Turkey. Mmmm... now I wants me some turkey...
I freaking LOVE LOVE LOVE mine. I dont have to worry about pills, shots. We dont use condoms. Our choice. We love each other. Have known each other since 9th grade (we are 24 now) have been together for four almost five years now. We have two kids together and he raises my bratzilla. So I feel that we shouldnt have to use condoms. I feel my sex drive is stronger now. My periods are pretty much gone though I do have very very very light spotting during the first day of when I should be starting, I still have PMS and I still get crampy, but not half as bad as when Im on my period.
It hurts a bit getting it in. But the time you are in there will pay for the time you dont have to spend getting stuck with needles, or taking pills... you'll just have lots and lots of sex...   haha!! I feel like a nympho now!!

yep! same experiences (except I have no periods *neener neener*)

my hubby and i have been together since i was 17 and have been married for 4 years and if I found a condom in my house i'd swear he was cheating...well...actually id' swear one of our friends had snuck in and had sex in our house probably   ).

I figure after 8 years together, 2 pregnancies, and all that...i don't need a barrier between me and him...and any BC that makes me MORE sane (i get TERRIBLE PMS) is a great thing

my last period before i got pregnant with my son, my hubby threatened to go live in his car for a week   Now he says I'm much nicer to him ....mostly because he doesn't know when my period should be...so I try to be evil sometimes, just so he knows he's still married to the same woman!

Lol. Live in the car. Men are silly. Your man sounds a lot like mine. Seeing as how I would assume the same if I caught a condom in our house!! I trust him with my life and so much more.
And boo you whore!! I so wish I didnt have my rag from the time I started on the mirena. My SIL tells me its no good for us to not have our period.... but I dont know. Theres always going to be something wrong with something that we try to change that is natural with our bodies, though I really dont know how much truth there is behind her statement.

Miss turkey, Im waiting for one to reply to me, then Im off to bed. So night!!

And Gia's momma, I definably (sp?) recommend it. But talk to your OBGYN and see what will work best for you. Some girls dont like it because of the strings that hang out, which can hurt a guy. So just talk with a dr. Do some research online. Figure out what is best for you!

Oh Laken---

don't hate because i'm too cool for a period
I DID bleed for a whole month right after it got put in (which was right after my PP bleeding stopped, so I was unamused).

However, mine didn't hurt at all going in. I had some minor cramping for about an hour after he put it in (but I was also 6 weeks PP and had given birth to a 10 lb baby, so i figure he could have parked a bus in there with no problem.

As for the not being good to not have a period, I think its BS. All periods do on a normal basis is flush out a build up of lining and cause us to be more anemic and lose vitamins and minerals (that a baby WOULD need IF there were a baby, but is wasted if there is NO baby). Add in all the pms, bloating, fatigue, pain, nausea, etc that can go with it...I'm all for not having one.

My last period (other than PP bleeding and my new-mirena bleeding) was August 30, 2008 (yep 200 . And I'm getting my Mirena taken out August 2010 or so so we cant try again!

As for the hubby---yep, he's silly! And I'd TOTALLY trust him with everything I have! He's military, so he's out of town a lot and works with peeople o fall kinds (including women) that travel with him....i'm sure theres opportunity to cheat---Think I worry about it? NOPE!

Mostly because I'm a damn fine cook and my hubby eats like a linebacker...no other woman can satisfy that   (not even his mama...his dad was the family cook  ) I know how to please my man! FILL HIS BELLY

Luckily, he knows he can trust ME with anything too (if I can give birth to a 10 lb baby with no meds without killing the man who got me pregnant, I'm pretty sure we're good to go  )

Woo hoo! Congrats on that last part! Im totally proud of you!

And yes, I be hatin!! I've had the worst cramps since I was little. I'd have to stay home for a day because I'd be throwing up and sleeping in the bathroom all day. It sucked. So I've always wanted it gone and over with.

With my Mirena being put in, I had some lady teaching another lady how to do them... justoccurringto me how stupid I was to say I agree, but oh well she helped me out by holding my hand.... I seriously had the clamp hanging out of my vag forever! I had cramping, but because she took forever, it was painful for me. Then I got some really bad period like cramps. And that was it.

My fiance is the cook. He is too much of a picky eater. So either he eats what I cook, makes something for himself, or he cooks. If he cooks, I clean. He hates to clean, so he is the cook.

eh, the giving birth kinda sucked, but it was TOTALLY worth it

as for the period cramps...mine have always been so bad that i have to take vicodin and go to bed teh first day of my period, usually. :/ luckily, I don't get sick to my tummy with it very often. but, i do get migraines with it   So, I figure I deserve no period? Maybe?

Sucks your period is so bad! I hope it gets easier the longer you have Mirena!

OH, and my hubby can't cook to save his life. His idea of cooking is opening a can and eating it with a spoon right out of the can over the sink and then hosing it down adn tossing the can in the recycling bin. He CAN grill a damnn good steak though..but I have to cook all the sides

i had ONE sharp pain from insertion and some very mild cramps for about an hour afterward (went home and took a nap and had no cramps when I woke up  )

As for my hubby feeling it---he doesnt at all. I even had him think/try to feel it during sex, but he couldnt. I've never felt it either!

And the strings soften the longer they are in there from the acidity of your bodily fluids---so the longer they're in, the more comfortable it will be (and if he gets poked, you can always go have your strings trimmed shorter).

We've had NO problems!

It wasn't painful at all...slight discomfort like a pap than they numb your cervix and I felta mild cramp at most.

Matt took cooking classes in high school. He was also a cook at arestaurant. Lol at your husband eating soup like that. I can picture it.
My cramps have gone down big time after the birth of my second, but came back with the third. But now I have the mirena. I dont get sick to my tummy like I use to, major plus.
I had a walking epi. SO I felt labor with my last one. I also waited till the last minute pretty much to go into the hospital, but they kept missing myveins trying to put the IV in, which made my contractions ten times worse. Because I was flinching and tightening my tummy. It seriously took them over an hour to get it in. They had to call theanesthesiologist to put in the IV. Then I had to be put on oxygen and had to push before I was ready. So I had the epi put in half an hour before hand. I still felt everything, but it took the edge off a bit. I still wanted to cry during pushing. And he was 4 weeks premature.
