NICU

The nurses just gave me a tour of the NICU... I guess so I am prepared if she comes in the next few weeks.
I am so sad   They had a 25 weeker and a 27 weeker in there.... God bless all you Moms who had preemies... it must have been so hard. I am praying for every day she stays inside so I don't have to go through this.
The nurse in the NICU told me if I can get her to Saturday (35 weeks), there is a chance she won't go to NICU... if I don't make it to then she will automatically go there.
My Dr. keeps saying: "Well, at least we got you to 34 weeks.." Sounds like even he thinks I won't make it much longer  
I don't know why I posted this... any NICU moms out there? Words of encouragement?

Just wanted to say I had a 35 weeker and a 34 weeker. I also had 2 pregnancies that they were sure I wouldn't make it past 34 weeks and both went to 37. If you need any advice I am here to help. Both of my first babies were in the NICU.

My daughter was not premature, but she was in the NICU due to a collapsed lung at birth. The nurses there were absolutely wonderful (my mom was one of them). It takes a very special person to be a NICU nurse, so just know that the nurses there are very passionate about what they do.

I had my youngest son at 35 weeks.
He couldnt keep his temperature up.
He couldnt breathe half the time,
He couldnt swallow.
He needed a feeding tube.
And slight jaundice.
He stayed in the NICU for 10 days.

I had a 27 weeker, hardest 3 months of my life, she actually did really good considering, never had any major problems, normal preemie stuff. She was 2 lbs 6 oz at birth, 14 inches long, she dropped down to 1 lb 15 oz, and now she is almost 6 months old, over 10 lbs, 22 inches long, and finally getting some chubbiness on her

I hope she doesn't come early, but something I was told is that girls do better than boys. Depending on the size of your baby, she might or might not have to go to NICU if you make it to 35 weeks. I will pray for you and your little girl that she stays in there at least a little longer, if not full term. I had my daughter at 28 weeks and we spent 2 months and 2 days in the NICU. It was hard, but sooooooo worth it! She is now a VERY healthy 15 month old. Good luck mama!

My daughter was born at 41 weeks and in the NICU. I felt horrible seeing my 9 lb baby there next to the 2 lb babies.

The nurses in the NICU are amazing. Really. They care about those babies so much, as if they were their own.

How did your NICU babies do?

My son was only in the NICU for about 5 hours. I gave birth at 38 weeks but he had his cord wrapped around him and he didnt breathe for about 5 minutes. It was scary. But i'm sure baby and you will be fine

Yeah, my daughter was HUGE compared to those little 2 pounders.

I agree with you that it does take a very special person to be a NICU nurse, if it wasn't for the staff at the hospital my daughter was at, I think I would have lost my mind. My very first time in there, I took one look at my baby, and just dropped down into a chair, uncontrollably crying, a nurse that wasn't even my baby's nurse, puts her hand out, makes me stand, and just hugs me, and I just made myself cry again  

I had my oldest at 24 weeks... Its hard but worth it. He's so amazing

I am so glad your sweetie is doing well. Yeah, the nurse told me girls usually do much better then boys.
