Essure???

Has anyone had the essure non surgical permanent birth control procedure done?

I am looking into it trying to get some opinionsfrom ladies who have had it done or are considering it.
I have heard horror stories about having tubes tied or clamped or burned.
I know that I do not want any more kids and want to be sure we do not have an oops.

I considered it. My friend had it done and she had a lot of issues so that really deterred me from it. It's just too new for me. Needs to have the kinks worked out.

Do you know what kind of issues?

I was put on birth control years ago because I have ovarian cysts so I dont know if having cysts would be a reason to not have it done.

oh ok I thought you were like sorry that I even said anything.

I looked into the procedure after I had my baby earlier this year, (I am looking for it again and if I find it I'll forward it to you), but I remember reading somewhere that there was a 1 in 7 chance of misplacing the coil. That wasn't a good enough number for me to have it done, plus the risks of perforation ect... I never had anything done and well, my husband and I are expecting again, lol. Anyhow I was talking to the nurse the other dayabout the procedure and she said they have had several pregnancies occur, but most of it was because women didn't follow the directions of using another form of birth control until they get tested to see if they were sterile. Also I have a friend who had it done and one of the coils was misplaced and they have to go back and re-do it. I'll keep looking to see if I can find that info for you.   Good Luck in your decision...

I'm not sure about the cysts.

She's just had a lot of problems with extremely heavy periods, horrible cramping, weight gain and it not even working at first. They had to take one of them out and replace it because it didn't "scar up" properly. A lot of those things are common with any type of tubal though.

I was looking at the risks and the benefits and there are a lot of risks.
I am also going to look into the different types of tubals.

I have all of those symptoms with my periods and taking the pill stops them. I do not want to be on the pill anymore and accidently get pregnant.

Then it might be the right choice for you.

I'm looking into different types of BC for my daughter because she has the same issues. She dreads her periods. I'm just afraid of putting her on a bunch of freakin hormones so young. Ugh.

Well ever since I was young I have had HEAVY (bleed through my jeans) flow and horrible cramps. They thought that I had endrimetrosis but nope just the way my body was. Then on New Years Eve (93) I was in the worst pain ever and went to the er. They thought it was gas and gave me 2 enemas, but finally I had to follow up with my dr and he did an ultrasound and they found cysts the size of small golf balls 9one had burst). I started on birthcontrol (Ortho Novum 777) to control the growth and frequency of the cysts. The BC was a cure all for the cramps and the heavy flow and the cysts.
Cysts are very common and super painful, I hope that the dr's figure out why she is so miserable.
PS: I am not too far from you. About 30-40 minutes.
