How over weight do you have to be to get it?

I'm waiting on my insurance ATM. Medicaid seems to want to take forever. It's been over 4 months now!!!! I'm not even sure if Medicaid would cover it...I'm guessing you've had it done? How did it go? How is your success coming along?

Is it removable or is it just in there forever? I struggle losing weight - my plateau seems to be around 230, and a lot of it is due to PCOS. Do you know if it would even help?

I'm just curious, I've never looked into it or anything.

The Lapband is removable! And safer than gastric bypass!!! I honestly would never have that procedure done-- our insides are they way they are for a reason! lol
Not sure about the PCOS? Since I actually haven't had either done...just have looked into it!

They don't encourage you to have it removed though... but it IS possible.

well i was just banded on tuesday, the 3rd. from my first consult on october 1st, till my surgery date, i had lost 15 lbs. i was on a liquid diet the week prior to surgery & im on the same liquid diet for the next 3 weeks, then move on to soft foods. i believe ive lost another 10-15 lbs already! the band IS removable, adjustable, practically & totally safe. i have yet to get the fluid in, which i believe will happen at my first post-op appointment on the 19th. the fluid is what makes the band tighten, causing your food intake to shrink. i HIGHLY reccomend the lapband to those who have seriously tried losing weight, have been overweight half or all their lives & who are very serious about wanting to change their life for the better! the weight loss ive heard about from several people range from 100 lbs in 5 months, to 100 lbs in 9 months! my goal is to lose 150 lbs by next october! im hoping i can do it! if you ladie have any more questions feel free to ask!

That's great! I wish you the best! How was the surgery? I'm guessing its done laproscopic? How long did you stay at the hosp/facility?

thank you! ya laproscopic....i have 5 tiny incisions. i stayed overnight, went home the next day. the pain after surgery was horrific, im not gonna lie, but once the pain meds kicked in it wasnt too bad!

How do they add liquid? Is there something sticking out of you? Because I'm picturing a feeding tube.

Hahaha! Believe me-- I know! I had my gallbladder taken out through laproscopic surgery.. even then I was like...   it hurts! lol I think the nurses were making fun of me a little bit--haha! But I'd like to keep up on your progress! I think thats awesome!
