she's not a peepot, she's a peeBED! help?

posted 7th Nov
My sweet baby girl has a bed wetting problem... as did I when I was her age (she's 4). I wet the bed until I was 7 or 8 years old. Not every night, but a lot. My daddy would wake me up in the middle of the night and take me to the bathroom. I guess I'm a crappy parent because I greatly value my sleep, haha. ANYway. She stayed in pullups until she turned 3, then I felt like the only way she would learn was from feeling the wetness of peeing the bed. I thought it would wake her up, and she would from then on wake up from just the urge. That didn't work. So, I ended up putting plastic pants on top of her panties. They leak   So.. she ends up covered in pee, and the bed ends up soaked too-- sometimes it wakes her up, sometimes I get to feel like mom of the year when I go in to get her and she's soaked and stinky   I was just talking to my mom and she said she thought we should just go back to pullups/underjams.. I don't know what to do here. She's such a brilliant and amazing kid.. This is just one of those things. I NEVER want to make her feel embarrassed or like she's done something wrong or stupid. Any ideas?

pullups, she's really not THAT old. My son is 7 and still wets...EVERY night. I don't make a big deal about it. The dr said until he's dry 50% of the time, it's physiological and nothing he can do about it.

My daughter wasn't dry until 5 at night. My youngest son was 3.

I just downplay it, but teach good hygiene. They knew it was ok if they were wet, but to never hide it and that they had to wash themselves up in the morning so they didn't smell.

thanks so much.. very good to hear. I'll get her back in pullups and I think we'll all be happier. I guess she'll stop when she's ready.
