[what to wear] Wedding Shower

posted 7th Nov
This is a lame question but my mom doesn't really know the answer so I thought I'd ask on here. I'm going to a wedding shower tomorrow and I don't know what to wear... like what is acceptable or what you would traditionally wear. I have a simple, casual dress my sister just gave me but my breasts look way inappropriate in it lol. What have you guys worn to a wedding shower? I have very few pieces of nice clothing anymore so I dont even have much to work with  I have tons of sweats and t-shirts though haha

Depends on where it is at and all, normally I'd wear something nice, but not as fancy as what I'd wear to a wedding.

o.o A wedding shower?

Is that a bachelor/bachelorette party? Or is this a new thing to try and get more presents from people? lol.

I think it is just like a gift-giving get together type of thing. My sister got married last year and I already forgot most of what happened. She had a wedding shower, a bachelorette party, and there was another gift opening the day after the wedding. It's confusing... haha.

Jeez   that's a bit much.

I mean you have the bachelor/bachelorette party and the wedding itself where people give you crap.. and now wedding showers?. If you take a present to a shower are you excused from taking one to the reception?

Sorry I'm just genuinely curious lol.

I didn't have a bachelorette party and my husband didn't have a bachelor party, not everyone has those (I'd kill him if I caught him in a strip club   )
But the wedding shower isn't really a new thing in the U.S. at all... it was used traditionally to give the new couple the basics (like blenders and tupperware, lol) though now it is usually an excuse for more presents I guess, since most people are already somewhat established when they get married these days. Usually people still give a wedding gift on top of that.

I just got married in August and I had a bridal shower. It was just for me and my girls to get away from the guys- which they went to try on their tuxes and hung out at our house with beer and pizzaand we had our "bachelor/rette" party together at the house, no presents at all. Just all of our friends having fun together.

I got gifts at my bridal shower but they were for me, most of the women got me sexy lingerie (even my DH's mom! LOL) and candles and stuff for the house. (Since we don't need much of anything cos we had already lived together for over a year.) But, they were small gifts, and some of the women that showed up, didn't even get me anything and I didn't even care. I'm glad they came whether they had a gift or not.

Most of the gifts we got at our wedding were cards. And picture frames. That works for me!

I got OT of what the actual topic was, hehe.

If you're not already there and have decided, did they give a "dress code?" My bridal shower we just wore jeans and a tshirt. It was warm and it was outside and I had made shirts for me and my girls. It was our "relax" day before we had to get all dressed up   Call someone who's also going and see what they're wearing. If it's an actual Wedding shower then I'd wear maybe some nice slacks with a nice blouse.   Just don't wear white
