breast milk supply--help

posted 7th Nov
Lately it feels and seems like my breast milk supply has gone down and I don't know why. It just doesn't feel full anymore and I'm barely leaking. Plus, he seems like hes not getting enough. I only give him 1 bottle offormula at night so someone else can feed him[pumping doesn't work].Anything I can do to make more? Like any natural stuff or even medicines? Thanks.

around 6 weeks your milk supply will regulate. you wont leak like before and all that.

keep your eye out and make sure he is wetting and pooping as normal. im sure everything is fine. its likely just your supply regulating

Formula will deplete your supply. You can't supplement the first 6 weeks.

Are you sure it's not a growth spurt?

You can do malt O meal, malted ovaltine, real oatmeat, fenugreek, mothers milk tea. But keep in mind that you will start to regulate, and you don't have to feel full to have milk. Mine feel squishy half the time, but she still gets enough

my boobs feel like flapjacks   but they are full enough to nurse a 15 month old 4-6 times a day.

uuhhh .....if your going to pump you have to leave the pump on after expressing milk for 2 mins at least and then it will boost your supply everytime.....

also if you give him formula he demands less and you make less
stop doing that

try pumping after a good few hours of him sleeping at night or whatever.....

if your consistent everyday pumping you will be able to produce enough and save enough for an emergency incase you get sick or party to much or something

if it were me, i would just get up myself at night with him. putting the baby to the boob is the best thing you can do imo

I was thinking it was a growth spurt at first but he just doesn't seem full for long. I'll try those things you listed, thanks.

I've tried that, I pass out. The safest thing to do really is to let someone else just feed him once at night. I'll try pumping some more though.

Thats what happens with a growth spurt. They require more because they grow, so they need to nurse more often to get your supply up to what they need. When my daughter was that young she would literally nurse more than she was not.

Why does pumping not work? You couldn't get anything? That can be normal that early on. What kind of pump do you have?

6 weeks is typical growth spurt time. Put him to breast more often. I was in tears, at 6 weeks Lorelai was taking full feedings every hour and a half around the clock for a few days. SHe'd feed for half an hour, and by the time I got her to sleep, and me to sleep, she was waking to eat again. It didnt last long though.

Make sure you're drinkingalot of water.
