bruise like mark ?

since birth my son has had a mark on his butt its a big mark and it looks like a bruise but its not one , he's 11 weeks old now, I thought maybe it was something babies get when they are first born but it hasn't faded away or anything & each time I go to the dr I forget to ask her about his mark and I just gave him a bath and thought oh what the hell im going to ask babygaga.

any ideas what it could be ?

Sounds like a birthmark to me

Mongolian spots.

birthmark-my oldest daughter has one still in the same place right on next to her butt. its reddish colored but its gotta be a birthmark

do you have any pics of it? my son has marks all over but they dont look like bruises. they are more beauty marks i guess. i was told they are mongolia spots because hes mixed. i dont know how true that is though.

I would say birthmark. My son has one on his foot that looks excatly like a bruise. People always asked me what happened, but it has been there since the day he was born and he is 10 months old now

oh and shes 2 and its still there

Mongolian spot. My daughter has one also. Hers is rather large and has not faded yet. She is 12 months.

Yes. It is very common among African Americans. My daughter's pedi did not know she had black in her until she saw her Mongolian spot.
