Solids on occasions?

Thanksgiving is coming and my little one will be about 4 and almost a half months by then. She is exclusively breastfed, but I have no plans to really delay solids unless she doesn't want them. Still my mom and MIL have been jumping on me to stuff her with solids. They even gave me a bag of gerber little graduates toddler meals. Too early! So I passed them to my neighbor who has a one year old.

I know on Turkey day everyone I know is going to be trying to let her taste everything. I was thinking of making a sweet potato dish and puree a bit of the vegetable for Olivia specifically for her to try so I know it's allergen free and not junk like the candy they were begging me to feed her on Halloween.  

That way if they say "Oh let the baby try food!"
At least I'd have some specifically for her on hand so they don't try to pour gravy down her throat. Good idea, bad idea? I know if I don't try to direct the situation somewhat, they will be feeding her white mashed potatoes and butter stuff and basically making her sick behind my back.

Actually mashed taters are a good first meal, as long as your lo isnt alergic to milk. You can mash up some veggies too. That should make everyone happy for her first 'big' meal.

Its fine, my son eats baby food already and he has no problem with it.

She should only try one food though. They need to be on new foods for a week or two before adding something else.

Well, the reason I don't want her to have my mom's mashed potatoes is that she puts like over a stick of butter in them and loads 'em with salt.

Yeah, this makes me feel better. I think I will pre-make a few first foods for her so everyone can feed her those and not make her sick off our fatty/salty stuff.

Mya is 4 months and my doc said it's ok for baby's to start on stage 1's baby food. She LOVES sweet potatoes. lol

Good point! I'm allergic to alot, so I will try to avoid the ones I can't eat in case she inherited my allergies.
