yea i never kenneled my dog up when he was younger or anything like that, but for some reason he got to where he would pee and shit all over the house. we tried getting a trainer and everything but he wouldnt listen. so we had to kinnel him up but then it got to where he was in there like all day til 3 and then all night so i felt like shit. now we dont make him stay in there unless we are gone (:

i honestly hate kinnels but harley is attached to his he will go in there for like hours and just chill lol

Our dogs love their kennels. They go in there to sleep on their own accord when they are tired, or want to get away. It's their "house".
They go in at night with their blankets and we close the door behind them.
They hold their pee through the night, we jsut let them out right before bed and first thing in the morning.

Also, if you have a big dog and live somewhere warm, I dont see why it couldnt sleep outside, if that's where his house is. Just so long as you still let it in and play with it, take it on walks, make sure you give it enough attention and dont just leave it chained up somewhere.

We have a very high energy pup and she has to be crated when we are away and at night. She'd eat things that could harm her otherwise. She digs up and eats our carpet if we're not being attentive because she is highly intelligent and needs lots of mental and physical stimulation. When we can't give that to her, we give her a kong or treats in her crate so she can be entertained but not destroy the house.

Our dog would be dead by now if we left her at home when we went places without her crate. She would eat cords, she can get onto the counters, she'd get into food. No matter what we do, she just needs her crate when we are away from her. She loves her crate too.

Quoting Meep:“ Ooo a great age. You're pretty much past puppyadolescencewhere they're not complete terrors lol. Both ... [snip!] ... lol. Both breeds will need a LOT ofexercisethough. 2, 1 hour walks a day imo though others might recommend more or less.”

Our lab/terrier needs 3, 1 hour walks!! now that it is getting too cold to have Lydia out that much every day, we've had to find ways to mentally and physically stimulate her inside. You know a lot about animals, what can we do with her to help her get her energy out? We play fetch and tug with her, she chases flashlight lights. We give her kongs and stuff like that.

I'm trying to find things to keep her busy and from eating crayons and other things she shouldn't. Now that I'm pregnant, it's going to get even more difficult. She's 8 months. So, she's in that really rebellious "teenage" phase
