Are people really that hateful and ignorant!?!

My SO and I hang out with another couple. Well, we all had lunch together at the mall yesterday. While we were eating and chit chating a aide (I am assuming) lead a group of 4 handicapped adults to the table behind us while she went and got their food. Well, next thing I know A (that's what we'll call her) says out loud "OMG why can't I just get away from f*cking retards!" My mouth dropped and just about slapped the piss shit out her mouth! Seriously, what makes her think she is something better than handicap people? Those people didn't ask to be born with disablities nor ask for someone who has to be with them everyday to help them do simple things! But than I realized she is always like that her BF has an uncle who has MS and he is currently in coma and has been for 2 months and all she says is "well his uncle got what he deserved" or "he is suck a retard" and "i hope he dies already". I personally DO NOT see how her bf can stand her let alone let her say those things in public or about his uncle. She is rude and mean. Well, after we ate we drove onto post so I could get my paycheck. Well, she is asking me about the kids I aide on the bus so I'm telling her. I have a little girl who has siezures if someone scares her and sometimes for no reason. A starts laughing! I also have a boy in 2nd grade with autism. And what do you know she says " I didn't know military parents have stupid kids." I slapped my breaks and started screaming! My SO just looked at me like I lost my mind. It took a lot for me not to turn around and beat her. I got out the car and started walking toward my building and my SO texted me and asked if I was OK and I told him I refused to get into a car with someone who is ignorant and mean, that I didn't believe poeple could honestly be that hateful towards people who are born way differently than she was. I also told him I wasn't getting back into the car until she was gone. Was I wrong? He took them home and came back for me. Well, today we seen them at a pub we usually go to. She told me she was sorry today for the things she saidbut I told her I wasn't the one she needed to apologize to and that I no longer wanted to be around her and I didn't want my kids to be around her either. Was I wrong? I told my SO that her bf is fine and he is the total opposite of her but I didn't want to associate myself with a hateful being like her. I don't mind hanging out with him.

you were sooo NOT wrong. some people are so close-minded and ignorant and they need to be told the fuck off sometimes to get through to them. although they usually never learn or try to educated themselves. gosh that just pisses me off reading your story! i hate people like that too!

I think you'd be crazy if you DID want to hang out with her. Ignorant doesn't even quite cover it. Cut those ties, and don't look back.

I hate people like that when they really hate people with disabilities especially kids I mean damn they did not ask to be born like that. People like her piss me off! My son has Autism and if she was talking to me, she'd have a new asshole. Point blank. It just bothered me because the kids I aide on the bus are like my own 2 kids. I don't see them any differently than normal.

Thats sad. You know what i have noticed. Alot of handicaped people are the nicest people you will meet! They don't judge people, I think they have a better understanding of people's feelings then some human beings. I feel nothing but sorrow for people who are like that. They don't understand the joy, and compassion handicap people can bring and show.
