Inappropriate for a registry?
posted 7th Nov
I guess inappropriate isn't the correct word, maybe odd I dunno lol, but I created my registry at Target and I put the Medela breastpump on there, the one that is like 280 dollars. Is it strange to have that on my registry? I have family members who will find it weird because they are close minded and nobody in my family breastfeeds, but to me, it's the same as if I put a bottle on my registry. What do you think?
And, I have nothing for the new baby other than the crib and mattress so I registered for pretty much everything, perhaps 20 items or less on there. Is this too much? I don't want to seem greedy. What are some rules to go by when creating a registry, if any lol. Thanks ladies!

eh, i had nursing pads and regular pads on my registry with my second, i got a good laugh about it and i don't think anyone thought it was weird. i had almost everythig else i needed, so i put really practical things on there that i would definitely use.

Not weird at all... whatever you want you put on there!

I would have put a breast pump on there too!! It's not too much. I don't think there is really an "etiquette" for them.

oh, and the more you have on there, the more people have to choose from, so i don't think there' anything wrong with putting everything.
i didn't put everything with ym first son and managed to get all of it and more than i could have ever hoped for. i was shocked.

Add everything that you want, but expect nothing. That way you're happy with anything

i wouldnt think it would be a problem.
put as much stuff as you want on there, its not like they HAVE to get it, or all of it.
and also it will help remind you what youde like to get after the shower if you didnt get it then.

I would say there are no rules... because whatever you need/want is what i ssupposed to go on there. It is like a pre-birthday oarty for your little one. You can also write comments under the item you put on the registry.

nothing wrong with it. they can get over themselves.

register for everything you might possibly want. about a month before your due date Target sends you a coupon & you get one day to go back and buy everything you want off your registry at 10% off. not much, but i counts. Also.. your family might suprise you at your baby showers.. i got a million times more than i expected to!

I think it's a good idea to put practical things on there or people just end up buying you a ton of newborn babies clothes....because that's whats "cute" to them!! People forget about the important things you really "need".

It isn't odd at all. You are going to breastfeed and need/want a pump. Nothing wrong with that! I had a pump, breast pads and the lanolin cream on my registry and do again on this one minus the pump. My SO thinks its weird or inappropriate for me to even make another registry, but there are still things we need for this baby. I'm not going out of my way to tell people its there, but if someone happens to look at least they'll have an idea of what we need.

there's my registry, I'm thinking I should delete the little things like the few blankets/towels, etc I have on there because that's kinda a given, everyone gets you those types of things... am I over thinking it lol?

Put whatever you want, how much you want. However, expect nothing off of it. I know it sounds harsh, but a lot of mommas only get clothes and diapers at the baby shower. Thats how it was for me, I really didn't even get a lot of that.
