didn't know where to post but advice would be good! TMI

I have a 3 yr old and an almost 10 month old. My 3 yr old is usually and awesome kid, never have many problems with beahviour, manner etc. The past week he has been trouble. I mean trashing the bathroom, whole toilet rolls down the toilet, bubble bath in the bath, floor, sink, toilet. He did this twice in one day, he knows it is wrong. He knows what he is doing, I tried time out, seemed to work, we went out, came back, withing an hr of being back the bathroom was trashed again. Now flip to today, fine all day, went out, all 4 of us had a nice walk, he got treats etc etc. Come home, I am cooking dinner, hear the toilet flush (he takes himself to poop etc or will call one of us ifhe needs help.) Hear it flush another 2 times, go upstairs.... POOP EVERYWHERE. I mean sink, toilet, floor, on my towels, in his pants, on his chest, up his arms EVERYWHERE. He doesn't have diareah (sp?) He knew it was naughty, I am at a loss as to what to do. Nothing stressful has happened, nothing has changed so I am lost.

Sounds to me like bathroom trashing is particularly to defy potty time. I would also suggest that it maybe in relation to feeling like his attention is diverted to the younger one. My kids are roughly the same age and I thought that he was totally cool with his sister until I noticed that around the time we started expecting more of him with his potty time, anytime he would get in trouble for something he would hit his sister and say bad baby. He was grasping for control where he felt like he had none. so I started saying that before naptime underwear was manditory and after naptime he could choose a diaper or underwear. I would also make sure, if you are able, to have particular time spent with just him so he feels like he's getting lots of attention.

My son went through a stage like that. Terrible 2's lasted from 3-4 yo for us. They get to an age and maturity level where they have the need to test you.

Sorry - none of my 3 sons ever did this - so I am at a loss about what to advise. I would be taking him to the bathroom supervised for a while - where was daddy???

that's the thing, he is out every day almost so he isn't bored, he goes to nursery 5 days a week, we both spend one to one time with him and we always both play games with him together etc. He has been using the toilet for well over a yr now.

SO went to pick up milk and bread, he is usually fine at going to the bathroom alone.

Probably just pushing his boundries mama, my daughter never went through the "terrible 2's" or anything then at about 3ish she started to be naughter. she does things that she knows is wrong but she just doesn't seem to care. just keep going with the time out and stuff eventually he should grow out of it. my daughter is now 4 and still tries to push me but i just keep on at her. I also try to pay as much attention to her when she does good things as i can. It could also be that your baby is growing up and starting to be more active getting more attention that way. I also have a 1yo and my 4yo gets jelous when we pay attention to the things he does so that ould be it as well!!

IDK maybe. He never really had terrible 2s as such, maybe he's getting them late, IDK   I hate to tell him off and sit him in time out but he knows what he is doing is naughty  

my daughter never went through her terrible 2's bt her 3s were awful. im sure hes going through it late like mine did
