Molar Pregnancy

Two weeks ago my step brother and his wife found out they were pregnant with twins. Today however she had another ultrasound and one of the "fetuses" is a molar pregnancy. I dont know what to tell them. I dont know what to do. I know that the chances are not good for her continuing this pregnancy. I only hope that theres a way they can abort the molar to give the other fetus a fighting chance.

Is a molar pregnancy the same thing as ectopic?

There is a chance that her body will absorb the molar. I'm very sorry for their loss...my heart goes out to them.

This occurs when the nucleus of an egg is either lost or inactivated. The sperm then duplicates itself because the egg was lacking genetic information. Usually there is no fetus, no placenta, no fluid and no amniotic membranes.
The uterus is rather filled with the mole that resembles a bunch of grapes. The fluid filled vesicles grow rapidly, which can make the uterus seem larger than it should be for gestational age. Because there is no placenta to receive the blood typically you will see bleeding into the uterine cavity or vaginal bleeding.

There is still a chance for the other fetus to live. There are time that the body or the other fetus will absorb the molar fetus! GL to your family hun!

I hope that the ultrasound is wrong and....well i hope that its just wrong. I hope that they were seeing things and that Amanda and her baby will be ok.

I had one of those.

There are two types of molar pregnancy: complete and partial.

• Complete molar pregnancy.In place of a normalplacentaandembryo, the hydatidiform mole is abnormal placental tissue that grows into a grapelike cluster that can fill the uterus.
• Partial molar pregnancy.The placenta grows abnormally into molar tissue. Anyfetaltissue that develops is likely to have severe defects.

A friend of mine was told she was having a molar pregnany but come to find out they just miscalculated the dates and she was only 4 weeks along. She came to find out 4 weeks later when she went for a DNC that the baby was fine and she ended up carrying to term!!! Hopefully this is the case with your family as well!! Prayers and thoughts from me to them hun! Hopefully atleast one of the babies will be fine, if not both!

Im just hoping she doesnt jump the gun and get a dnc like next week.......and then it turns out that there wasnt anything wrong
