according to the CDC the nasal spray contains live virus .. but it has been weakened so it shouldn't actually give you h1n1 .. it should onlyencourage your body to make the antibodies against the virus.

ETA we don't use the nasal spray for h1n1 here in canada .. so i'm just going on what i've read in my research

that would totally be the issue i would worry about as well

i mean paxil to
they thought it was a safe med to give pregnant women
and now it is linked to heart defects
they tried to put me on that when i was pregnant
THEN they tried to give me a medicine that a side effect was high blood sugar

this was all in my first trimester
but something told me not to take them (thank god)

well thank goodness you made the right choices!!

the thing for me is that there are ALL SORTS OF THINGS that they say right now are "totally safe" or "completely harmless" not just during pregnancy but in everyday life ... and in a few years time they'll come out and say "oopsy daisy... we were wrong.. this is now giving people heart attacks/cancer etc. sorry"

based on the information i have RIGHT NOW the vaccine is right for me. as i said my daughter can't get the vaccine and i want to keep her safe... hubby and i are in contact with sniffing, sneezing, coughing people everyday .. people who cough on their paper/books and then hand them over to me to correct  ... i am a big believer in vaccines in general.. my daughter has had every one so far (except the mmr .. she is allergic to eggs so i just want to wait until she's closer to two with the hopes she'll grow out of the allergy by then) ... i've had all my vaccines as has my husband ... yes there are risks with every vaccine but ... overall they are good IMO. they've basically erradicated childhood diseases that decades ago could wipe out most of the children in a generation...

as i said before... idk if it was the right choice.. i keep thinking that "what if in 5, 10, or 20 years something shows up in this baby b/c of the vaccine" .. but ... what if in 20 years they're walking down the street and a drunk driver swerves and kills them while they're walking down the street ... i can only do what i think is best and hope and pray that i'm doing the right thing .. ya know!!

you know.. when i was growing up i thought i had all these "worries" and "stresses" .. getting good grades .. pleasing my parents ... being a "good person" .. passing midterms.. choosing a career .. student loans ... well by-god those worries are NOTHING compared to the worries that drop on your shoulders once you have kids!!!! they're the biggest joy in my life .. but the biggest worry EVER!!! and you know what else?!?! it isn't going to stop!!!     ... they'll be married with kids of their own and i'll STILL worry about them!!!

You can never know if you are making the right choice

with vaccines i am a big supporter of the right choice for you, not what works for anyone else. My daughter is not currently vaxed, she is on a delayed selective schedule. That is the right choice for us. But it may not be the right choice for others.

I really do believe that its different for everyone. What is the right choice for them.

Because there are so many unknowns, there is no one right answer

yes!! you have to do what's right for you!! i agree 100% .. if a delayed selective schedule works for you then who am i to say otherwise!? i have friends who've basically decided against vaccinating .. who am i to tellthem how to parent?!? they are making the choices they feel are right for them

**sigh** i wish i had a magic crystal ball so i could know for sure what the right choice is .. for EVERYTHING!! not just this vaccine crap but even just the little things.. like .. should i microwave my lasagna on this plastic dish or switch it to glass?! just what IS in this bottled water i'm drinking .. is it safe?!? .. oh .. speaking of that ... when i was pg with leah i drank like 2 L of water from a hard plastic bottle daily... afterwards they came out and said that type of plastic contains BPA so you shouldn't ever use them!! grrr!!!

anyways... it's been lovely discussing vaccines and personal choices in a mature non-name calling manner with you     (see other BG members .. it CAN be done w/o forcing your opinion down somebody elses throat     )

gah if we had a crystal ball then we could have a right and wrong choice
that would be so nice. You are like me, you dont make a decision when if comes to your kid lightly. We study everything and over analyze things.

lol yes the maturity of bg
