re: H1N1 Vaccine

that's just the thing... if you get the flu and nothing bad happens - wonderful ... if you mange to avoid getting the flu - wonderful!! .. but its those cases where either the mother dies or loses her babies that scare me... hence when the vaccine became available to me i got it.. even though i can't be 100% sure it will be 100% safe for my baby ... i have a 16 month at home who can't get the vaccine b/c of an allergy ... both hubby and i are teachers which means we are in close contact will the public everyday... we have to do what we think is best ... i can't tell somebody else that they are stupid OR smart to get vaccinated or not ... they have to do what is best forthem and their families.

they arent suppose to use the live virus and just because its weakend doesnt mean you cant get sick from it and it is worse because it comes into your body in a foregin way so you body doesnt get to use its first few lines of defense and is having to work harder to kill the virus! and it is probably the H1N1 because she got the shot. (not saying the shot causes you to get sick) In her case this probably happened though!

Yeah, thats really stupid. Go find something better to do with your time besides tell someone not to get a vaccine..Thats just ridiculous.. People will do whatever they think is best for them.

personally i wouldn't take anything that was not known safe
i mean i even went off all my bipolar meds while i was pregnant
i was absolutely miserable, but it wasn;t worth the risk

i completely understand that!!!   you wouldn't BELIEVE how much i agonized, questioned, researched etc etc ... thalidomide was one of the biggest issues that i brought up!! drs gave it out left right and center b/c they thought it was ok.. it wasn't until AFTER babies were born that they realized how very, very wrong they were!!! ... but after reading legitimate informational websites (not opinion based blogs, news articles etc) ... asking several drs and nurses that i'm friends with ... i decided that for ME the risk was higher to not get the vaccine... up until i let them stick the needle in my arm i still questioned if i were doing the right thing... but it is done now. there is nothing i can do but hope that i did the right thing. so i'm at peace with my decision. but i wouldn't dare tell somebody who decided against vaccination that they are "wrong" ... i'm not in their shoes so who the heck am i to make decisions for them
