Inlaws blamed it on the dog!
posted 7th Nov
I came home from work today and the first thing my MIL points out is the knot on my sons head. She has this big elaborate story of how Jac (my dog) lunged at Caden and bit himwhen he moved his arm. First off she has never made any indication of biting Caden, and it's one small knot no broken skin or anything that I would think a dog bite would also have. Not to mention why would my 6 month old be on the floor by himself with the dog. When he woke up in MIL's arms he was twitching and it wasn't shivering from being cold or peeing. Just another thing to add to the list of reasons I don't trust them. Every time I come home he is in the same clothes he woke up in (I work 8 hrs), covered in dried spit up all down him, and has a full pee diaper. Point of this post has anyone ever seen a dog bite that was one single knot with no broken skin? I plan on finding her a new home anyways for different reason, but the inlaws are going to be keeping Caden while me and DH are in Vegas this January for 4 nights. I just need to put my mind at rest if it really was the dumb dog or does it sound like the inlaws are full of it? PLEASE DON'T QUOTE ME I'M DELETING THIS POST LATER!!!!

Sounds like she feeding you a load of bullshit to me.

honestly the whole dog biting child thing sounds like a lie they conducted. i've never seen a dog bite make a knot without any broken skin. and the fact that they leave him in dirty diapers and dirty clothes sends some signals...i wouldn't leave my child with them but that's just me.

I would think there would be a scratch or something and if they take awful care of your child why would you leave him with them for 4 days?

and if he is acting weird i would for sure not leave my child with them anymore...
i watch 2 kids during the week and i change their clothes twice a day lol...they are 2 though and get pretty dirty

sounds like your inlaws are full of it. Do you have anyone else who can watch him while you are gone? I don't think I could leave my LO with someone who isn't going to care for him up to my standards, especially for four days.

Well I've been debating selling the tickets for Vegas because of everything else so I don't have to leave him with them, but this would seal the deal. I just want to have enough stuff to show my DH so he doesn't say I just don't want his fam watching Caden. He's in Iraq right now so he hasn't seen any of this.

i wouldnt leave your son with them while you go to vegas, if you already dont like how they care for him. regardless of the dog incident.

I wish I had another choice for Vegas, but my parents both work full time through the week. This was my last day of work so I don't have to worry about he inlaws anymore.

Well if you ladies are bored here's another question...how am I going to break this to my husband without starting a HUGE fight?! I know he'll be pissed but I'm afraid he'll flip shit. He knows I'm not very fond of his family to begin with because they have much lower standards in general then myself. And he always gets pissy when I won't let them take him anywhere.

I'd think there'd be a mark instead of just a bump. I wouldn't leave him with them for 4 days.
Good luck on letting your husband know, I don't trust DF's parents with Ainsley for more then a few hours either. They didn't change her at all last time she went over there for 5 hours.

Say he is dirty and wet every time I pick him up? Has he gotten diaper rash from there mistreating? Take pictures. Just whip out your phone and take a pic of exactly hwo dirty he looks when you pick him up.

Geez what is wrong with people. Even if it wasn't my own child or grandchild I wouldn't let a baby sit with a nasty diaper for htat long!!!

I'm agreeing In-Laws are sounding Dangerous to your Child's health & Yes a dog could injure a child(really anyone) similarly to what you're describing(not knowing your dogs size/breed hinders knowing such) But it IS NOT A BITE!! I call 'em "Muzzle Punches", what happens is literally the dog pokes with their Muzzle, & with children their skin & such is alot easier to damage, & it can 'cause bruising & such. Another way in which the dog could have been responsible is if the Dog attacked the MIL while the baby was near by & accidentally hit the baby with the teeth, but realized that it wasn't the target so didn't actually bite the baby, was trying to hit the MIL & missed so didn't finish the bite. My dog has left stone bruises on me while I was training her to be a working Police & Protection dog. She was taught never to bite skin, but to grab at the material in the clothes, so when she grabs on she sometimes almost gets the flesh underneath & let's go just enough until all she has is the clothes. That way she doesn't bite flesh but she doesn't lose her target.
