am I crazy?

Okay so before I was pregnant I opted for an outside provider as my PCM (my husband is in the military)...Little did I know when I picked this woman, the office was DISGUSTING and horrible- I wouldnt go there if my life depended on it. I'm in the process of changing my PCM, since for the past 10 months I've been seeing my OB. 

Well fast forward to this morning- I woke up and I'm 99% sure that I have strep throat. Even if I wanted to go to my PCM its a saturday and they aren't open. Would I be completely crazy to go to the ER? The only way strep can be treated is through antibiotics- and I really dont want to get my 6 week old sick...

I guess I just feel dumb going into the ER with a "sore throat" when the ER is for emergencies.....but I know this isn't going to fix itself with some tylenol...


Also- I'm breastfeeding....I keep breastfeeding right?

but can't you just go to a walk in clinic?

If you go to the ER you'll be exposing yourself to a ton of germs needlessly which in turn exposes your little one.
Keep breastfeeding, wait til Monday or go to a walk in clinic

i would go to the er if your that sure. if you go to a er on base you wont even get charged. im not sure about the whole breastfeeding part but i do know that strep throat can only be treated with antibiotics so you should get seen if that is indeed what it is. good luck.

oh btw, to change your pcm, just call deers

i went to the VA er when i had strep. i called the nurses line and asked and they said to come in so i did. sure enough i had strep and i was in and out in an hour.

There is no walk in clinic or else I'd be there already....

My husband is trying to get out of work early so he can watch her while I go to the ER so I dont have to bring her....

I had strep throat SO bad while I was pregnant and it feels just like it...I'm just scared that if I let it go that it'll get her sick...thats the last thing I want..

if you really don't feel good, then go. I know here at camp pendleton, they have a completely different place for people with flu like symptoms to go to so i bet they have that at your hospital.
