I have a friend who does the Areo Evacs transport for the USAF (flys injured troops from the middle east to the states etc) and he had a 4 day old baby who is a civilian (and his parents are not military) , the Secretary of the USAF authorized a C-17(thats a huge plane) Transport because of the baby's heart defect a ambulance coun't support the life support machines he needed. His defect caused him to have a heart attack at like 24 hours old.

My friend Chris said it was nerve wracking to watch over this little infant, hes used to burn victims, IED victims etc. He's never had a patient so small.

Anyways I wanted to share, he did update me that the little boy did get a heart transplant and would have never survived if it wasnt for the Air Force transporting him on a 10,000$ an hour "taxi"
