I don't know if this is what it is, but my feet would turn purple when I was pregnant... my mom always told me the blood wasnt flowing to my feet because more of it is going to the baby.. didn't sound right to me but mother knows best I guess...

Her GP sounds like an idiot, but that doesn't mean that all are.

I saw a GP through my entire pregnancy and I absolutely love the fact that she is my doctor AND my daughter's pedi and we don't have to go to two diffferent places.

Even though she has no major specificity, she has well rounded knowledge on all topics doctor related.

My extremeties frequently look like that, but I know that I have terrible circulation. I'm always cold and if I warm up too quickly (like in a bath or hot tub, whatever) my fingers and toes actually turn purple. It looks sick.

You for sure need a new doctor, though. I'd write some kind of letter to his certification board, that's just ridiculous.

Try taking off your wedding ring. Mine did the same, and also I had a blue ring around where my wedding ring was, when i was preggo.

Well your GP is a douch bag if he is telling you to go look it up. That's his job, to find out what it is, or refer you to somebody who knows. That's what you are paying him for.

I'd say it's low oxygen getting to you fingers, probably bad circulation. I seen something about that on Discovery Health before but I can't remember what they said about it, sorry.

I totally didn't get what you were asking about at first b/c it looked like that iridescent nail polish or something on your nails lol I was confused for a while lol. I feel dumb now

I'm pretty sure its not harmful, but then again, I'm no GP.   (I kid, I kid...)

You could try www.webmd.comand do the symptom checker. I would do it for you, but it usually asks questions that go along with the symptoms. Also, just in some googling I've done, it appears that poor circulation is common during pregnancy. (although I don't know how... that's just what I saw)

thats cyanosis honey. You don't have enough oxygen in your blood stream. Has your OB seen it? One of your Dr's should be concerned about it.

I would say go to a new doctor... now.
