diaper pails?

posted 7th Nov
So I am looking into a diaper pail. For our 20 month old we just put his diapers in a regular trash can in a regular bag and it stinks after a little while! With 2 kids soon I can only imagine the amount of diapers we'll have and the stink to go with them. I'm looking at the Diaper Genie II, or the Diaper Champ, or just a plain old trash can that has a lid on it. Which of those 3 would work the best at controlling the smell and keeping diapers out of sight?

I like the Diaper Genie II Elite!! (it has the step lip) It works well with stinky diapers!! I never smell them in the house!!

Diaper genies are a waste of money. I stopped buying the refills and use regular trash bags in it now. I wish I wouldnt have gotten it, it is easier to tie poopy diapers up in the scented bags and then just toss pee diapers all in one bag and take it to the trash once or twice a day. IMO.

i personally like the diaper champ cause you can use regular kitchen trash bags..

which saves money on the special ones you need for the genie.. and it seals better than a regular trash can..

Thats what i was also thinking...I may stop buying the refills....to save money...But where do you get scented bags?? & if your buying scented bags wouldnt it be better just to buy the refills?

They are like 75-100 bags for 1.25. I get them at walmart where they have the carseat mirrors and sun shades and such. I only put poop diapers in them, not pee ones, so they last a long time.

Diaper genies are a waste. I just bought a trash can with a lid that pops open when you step on the lever at the bottom. Taking it out everynight helps too. I have a big trash can outside just for the bags of diapers. Febreeze never worked for me but Lysol does.

that's most likely what we'll end up doing.

Thanks ladies for your thoughts. I'll probably just get a different trash can with a lid and make sure they get taken out quite frequently to reduce smell

I have that one that has a sensor and opens for you lol WASTE OF MONEY. Wish I would have never spent that much on it. Easier to just walk out front and through it out lol

I've got a Safety 1st diaper pail but I don't know what it is called because it was given to us. I love it though! It takes regular kitchen garbage bags too. I dislike taking out the garbage everyday just because I think it is so wasteful, so it is definitely the best option for me.

However, I think a trash can with a lid would probably work just as well.
