sleeping in the swing?!

posted 7th Nov
Okay so my son really loves his swing, and he sleeps so perfectly in there.. he has some tummy issues, like he spits up way more when he's in his bassinet or crib.. Soooo i put him in there 20 mins after he eats and he passes out.. Is it alright to let him sleep in there for long period of times, or should i wake him up and put him flat eventually?!

Sounds like he has reflux-try elevating the head of his crib maybe?I used to let my eldest sleep in the swing but have heard since that it isn't good for them-your call really.

Yeah my mom said the same thing about the reflux.. I really think that's what it is, I called the doctors office and she told me "sounds like your feeding him too much" 2 1/2 ounces for a one month old is too much? plus he was a premie.. i don't think so... lol He does have a doc appt soon though, hoping to figure it out.. && I was thinking it might be bad for them.. Not really sure if i'll keep him in there for too long..

You may catch some grief for it, but my son slept in his swing. He is a very light sleeper and would stir all night long. When he was in his swing, he slept much better.

If it is better for your child, then do it. That's my advice.

Oh, btw, my pedi said that it was perfectly fine!

LO's in it as we speak. If she falls asleep in it I see no need to move and possibly wake her up. I just plop my butt on the coach and try to take a nap.

it's probably not the best thing if it's ALL the time. my son used to take naps in his swing up until he was 4 mos. every couple of days or so. and if he woke up super early in the morning, I'd feed him, burp him, change him, rock him & try to put him back down. if he still wasn't happy, i'd put him in his swing for a little bit & he'd fall right asleep.

That's the way i feel about everything, it seems to be working out.. He really loves it.. and i really feel deep down that it's best for him.. i don't put him in there 24/7 he still sleeps in his bassi and crib.. I just get freaked out when he sleeps in there for 4 whole hours, and then my fiance feeds him and puts him back in there for another 4..
