re: Urinary Catheter

I had an epi and the catheter. Did not feel it at all going in. And then a couple hours after birth I thought that I still had it in but they told me they had already taken it out, haha. So to answer your question, no pain during birth. However during recovery for the couple weeks after I felt pains down there. But compared to all the other pain going on down there, it was nothing.

It stung at first but then you feel relieved because you can pee. It feels uncomfortable the first couple times you pee and then you can't feel it at all.
I was more embarrased when the nurse would come empty it out.

Not great... I've been in early labor for like 37 hours so far and I'm starting to go crazy.

yeah they did it to me after the epi, they put it in twice. but each time was just for a few minutes to take out all the urine then they took it out.

i have a piercing in my hood there near where the pee hole is i guess. I'm figuring I should take it out if that is gonna get in the way of a catheder? anyone know about that or seen any threads on vag piercings and labour?

I dont care if I have to take it out I guess...its just a little hard to remove and I'll need someone else to do it and I don't want them wasting any time at the hospital on that sort of thing.

I heard even if you go all natural but rip REAL bad they make you have a cath?

Catheter was like nothing... I had mine once the epi was in, and they took it out once it was time to push. I had to get my bladder emptied again though once he was out, and they didn't trust me to walk yet so they did another cath... I felt that one. It was a little pinch going in, and nothing coming out. Way over hyped...

You might want to take it out... just because if you end up needing an emergency c-sec, they'd have to mess with it then because of the metal. Maybe ask your OB/midwife about it...

My ob said I had to take mine out   I want to get it redone as soon as this one is born. I was bummed I had it for about 8 years, I had DH take it out for me at about 37 weeks.
